Hyman is not a better all round player than JT.
Sorry, thats ridiculous
I like what hyman brings but JT even when not producing offensively, he does a lot of other things on the ice and defensively that dont get recognized - Fakepartofme
If the players on other lines and Freddy were playing better this team would be 7-8 points in a playoff spot and people would be talking about how important JT is to this team because he’s a PPG and is good everywhere on the ice. |

Serious question about Dumba
The consensus is that he is a young, physical offensive dman who has issues defensively
Isn’t that the coaches job to teach defensive systems and correct any issues?
Do we not have any confidence in our coaches?
If a guy can skate, hit and has a big shot.....it seems much easier to tell him where to stand than develop a skill set - mr.sir
Have any of our dmen learned to play d yet?
We have a dumba already, we need a dman that knows how to play D.
Dumba isnt the answer imo, unless barrie is moved. But i dont see dubas moving barrie. |

I don’t agree with this.
Two different players.
Same with the Gardiner/Barrie shtick. They are different players as well.
I think Gards would fit much better into this system than Barrie. |

Too funny!
You realize Leafs have given up exactly same number of goals as Sens so far this season. - spatso
Too funny. Did you realize the Leafs have 17 more points in the standings with 20+ games to go and the Leafs unloaded their long term contract problem on the sens (again)? |

They may be different players, but neither Barrie or Gardiner is what the team actually needs. they need a solid stay at home guy. |

You ever watch him play? Man, he's almost a big of a mess as Karlsson is/was. But, not quite as bad. |

"at this point" - as in, he's playing better and more consistent because he actually has battle, speed and hunger on the ice.

we have 22 million tied up in 2 players - one of them isn't doing much more than chipping in the odd assist these days and I expect more out of 22 million. You don't like it? Too bad. Reality sucks sometimes!
And for the record, I never once spoke highly of Johnsson, I've been hoping the Leafs were going to trade him in a package for a D man. - Lucas.Neilson
Odd assist?
He has the highest ppg of any leaf right now. 1.20. 60pts in 50 games and hes had an off year.
He may be overpaid a bit but hes producing at a 98pts pace over 82 games.

They need a top 4 RS D man that doesn’t need to be sheltered.
Barrie gets sheltered. Dumba(before this year) does not. |

if you look at the prices just paid for D, maybe close to a 1st
I just doubt Dubas is looking at trading him unless there is another RHD in the works.
Ceci is out, Holl is regressing. subtract Barrie ..then what? - senstroll
Stop making sense.
The only solution is to completely capitulate with 20 games left to go while we're still in a playoff spot. It's the only way. |

Is the D the real problem on the Leafs?
Watching last night, it seemed to me the forwards abandoned any responsibilities for their own end. Or, as someone said to me, some of those guys were such great offensive talents they have never had to learn how to take care of business in their own end.
If the Leaf brought in a top Dman, would it be any different without the forwards becoming more defensively reliable players. |
