Not the teams great, it’s all the weak tap in goals. - Garnie
I just rewatched all the goals...what are you going to do about those PP goals like that...hard to stop Sid.

That 5th goal, when Andersen gave the puck away, should we pin that one on Nylander? - PatC80

LOL. Every one of Tavares, Matthews, Marner, are better players, and less one dimensional than Kessel. 2 of them are also centres.
But I get what he is trying to say.
(at least it's not 4 "ODogs". that would be a disaster). |

first goal crosby thread the the (frank)ing needle with a perfect pass.
Leafs give up a tap in
basically the same for the 3-0 goal...sweet pass from Sid
tap ins...yes...from elite plays from Sid - senstroll
I don't think you read my post. Where was Holl and Marincin on those goals? You honestly think those "elite plays" couldn't have been stopped with better marking? two guys were allowed to get to spots and make plays they wanted to multiple times. What about the tip in from the unmarked guy 3 feet in front of the net?
Inexcusable.
Maybe one goal you give up like that. This team is a sieve in their own zone.
The d-zone coverage was awful last night and it's been awful all year. |

Marincin didn't play that 3rd one well enough. Great plays by Sid but the shooter was left all alone. Holl and Marincin were bad ...really bad. |

Yep, Freddie shouldn’t handle the puck very much, I’ve said that from day 1...but pinning this year on him with all the goals I’ve watched over the last 20 is way off IMO 🤷🏻♂️ |

One of the PP goals Holl forgot to collapse giving the Pens a 2-1 down low. It was a bad mistake.
On another Marancin drifted high in the crease away from his man on the back post. Great pass by Sid but Marincin didn't have the ability to recover.
Goal 3 at ES ...Marancin was caught floating high in the slot leaving Sandin to cover 2 guys ...Marincin's guy gets a free tip.
We need help on the back end. Too many minutes for Holl and Dermott right now and Sandin and Lilly and should probably all be in the Ahl dominating. |

Probably the team MVP 4 years in a row but leave it to Leafs fans to ignore bad coaching, bad defense, injuries on defense and lazy forwards so they can blame the goalie. Love blaming goalies in Tarana. |

It is hard to stop Sid, but it is a lot easier if the D are doing their jobs. As soon as the Penguins got into motion, the D got lost in their coverage. I don't even know how - they are supposed to be collapsed low to the goalie - I think on two of them Marincin is in the high slot - he's like a child at the zoo, he just wanders off. On the first PP goal, both Holl and Muzzin give the lane clear across the crease for the pass. Holl is especially guilty because he's covering the backdoor with his stick covering nothing. |

it's funny to go back to the hockeybuzz draft thread on here - and see the 'leafs hockey experts' laughing about vancouver drafting petterson ('what is he, 14y old?') |

Tremendous d-zone coverage. All Andersen's fault.
- floater_willy
No one has said this. But I do keep reading how he’s completely absolved from any blame. Weird. |

Yep, he needs to make a quick pass and get the (frank) back in his net...I think it was 1st game or 2 when he 1st got here I said it...someone disagreed about that too...go figure. Hard to win in here.... |

Hmm...I don't think anyone has completely exonerated Andersen either. But there are those that pin most of the blame on him or make him the scape goat.
Other than the 5th goal where he mishandled the puck can you really blame him for any of the other goals last night?
Going back further, he could be better but he hasn't been the primary issue for this team. It's the laziness and lack of structure in their own zone that is the main reason for their troubles. |

A lot of pre-draft analysis had him pegged as the sleeper pick of the draft (I think he was ranked around 20th by ISS); I think the other sleeper was Andersson. So, you know . . . 50% on those picks. |

Completely absolved. |

What’s a goalie to do though? It can’t be a soft goal and a defensive break down allowing 2 on 1’s - breakaways and taps ins.
I’m sure there’s the odd goal he’d like back this year but I haven’t witnessed many Bernier/Reimer moments to be honest.
I’m not a goalie, so I don’t really give a (frank)...just want to see a Cup or a run...but if everyone can just say “look at his sv%” then some can say...look at what the team gives up in opportunities 🤷🏻♂️
Too many games lately where he’s been hung out and pulled...not good for a goalie who seems to need lots of work. |
