Hes the reason they made the playoffs the past two years.
Happy that its popular to hate freddy right now, but lets not get carried away
He hasnt stood on his head to save this team in the past two months. It happens.

- Fakepartofme

No, but he is struggling, not just yesterday's game.. I do not fault him for their first 4 goals against.

Since Jan 1 his save % is .880, at what point can we say that's not good enough?

so the Petan and Malgin moves don't constitute big moves then?
- BorjeFan4Ever

no because they are both under 5'10, so, they are small moves.

You have to start realizing every move isn't going to be a blockbuster.

I really don't want to talk to you right now I am bored of the things you get mad at. I realize I responded to you and I shouldn't have, my bad and carry on

- Santo_44

He does this every time a trade is made... It’s really weird.

Yep, Dubas doesn't give a flying (frank) about criticism. He takes risks and it is stupid to say he doesn't.

One of the things I really admire about him as a GM. I wan't the Leafs GM to be proactive and not be afraid to make deals.

If there is a D they think they can trade for I want them to do it now not the offseason. Now if the cap really truly doesn't make sense to add him now then that is fine.

Lou has made two trades in his tenure as the Isles GM. Matt Martin and Andy Greene...If that is the type of GM style someone wants on this team then I get the Dubas criticism...but for me I want the GM to make moves. Make the team better any way you can. Starting with this Marchment for Malgin trade.

I am absolutely not mad at this point. Watching the shyte show that is the TML for more than 50 years... trust me - I'm not mad.

I'm more shocked/surprised than anything else. When the areas of need are so obvious..

and the lemmings continue to sing the praises... the players lack intensity, consistency.. and it would appear the GM is lacking in his "attention to detail"

you can't make this stuff up...

I just don't get it.

Dubas gave up nothing for a guy that has had success in the NHL. Some people just make up things to get mad at him for.

Twitter was on fire yesterday getting pissey because he didn't add a D man like 4/5 other teams. Still 5 days left until monday.

I find it strange someone who has watched the Leafs for 50 years is shocked and surprised.

Malgin won't hurt us or help us.. It's a meh trade...

Dubas is willing to make trades, you don't honestly believe he isn't trying to upgrade the defense.. FFS, look at what happened these past few days... Teams overpaid for Alec Martinez and Brendan Dillon and Marco Scandella..

Dubas is smart not to overpay for bottom pairing defensemen

You are welcome to your opinions man, I just don't feel the need to argue whether adding players and giving up nothing hurts the team.

Not every move and player signed is meant to contribute at a massive rate to this team.

What's your take on Malgin? I haven't followed him at all. Grit, I hope. Find it really strange that these two are making a deal while in the race. Maybe Dubas knows that the Panthers are sellers.

The Clifford Campbell trade was good though. It addressed 2 needs. Clifford isn't enough but at least he will step in and keep down there riffraff.

Vatanen is injured or always injured...why would the leafs trade for him?

So yes severson is a better choice

- Fakepartofme

Vatanen will go to a team that is a sure bet for playoffs.

He likely isn't even back in the lineup for a few weeks then he has to get healthy plus adjust to his new team.

I bet he only gets a 2nd and a 4th even though he is the best rental D.

All Malgin does is provide depth, he can play both C and RW. Replaces Johnsson for this season. Will play a bottom 6 role and maybe allows Dubas to move Kerfoot or Kapanen.. All it cost was an AHL winger with size..

This is the equivalent of Dubas getting a cheeseburger for lunch. It’s not newsworthy. I don’t care. It has no bearing on evaluating Dubas as a GM.

Leafs Nation needs to relax. Jeezuz, no wonder we can never win here.

But those #'s are also a result of constantly being hung out to dry.....and some bad performances on his end as well.
