Would maybe make sense that they see Malgin as a kapanen replacement...
- joel878

If they feel he can play top 6 mins sometimes, then maybe.

The best things about the Malgin trade is it could have waited for the deadline and Duthie is crying in a corner of the tsn studios wondering what they are going to talk about at 8am on the 24th.

And people were shocked holl wasnt brought up last season lol.

Holl and Dermott are 4,5,6 level d-men playing 2,3 level minutes due to injuries.
They are both NHL level d-men and belong on the Leafs roster but are mis-cast right now.
Barrie is another story. He should be a 2,3 level d-man and is getting those minutes but is severely underperforming right now.
BINGO!

Malkin played top 6 minutes his whole life, of course he slides right into our top line. I just traded Brad Marchand for Malkin, I'm a (frank)ing GENIUS!

The Leafs lack on ice leadership. They have no top player that knows what it takes to win. Their captain is a quiet, dull, monotone player that has never won anything and their assistant captain is a soft me first player who rarely works hard every shift. Not inspiring what it takes to work hard or sacrifice to win.

Every goal scored on Andersen is the result of a 3 on 0 breakaway after Barrie turns the puck over at out blue line and goes off for a line change

Leafs sporting a .991 PDO since Jan 1 (25th)

You can set your watch to the Lack of Leadership and heart/caresi posts that coincide with a PDO bender.

5v5 sv% is 30th over that time

TB is sizzling at 106 over the same time

I'm kidding hon.

I just find the bipolar rants on here to be kind of hilarious.

It's been a weird year with Babcock being fired, tons of injuries, Andersen playing below expectations.

That we're even in a playoff spot right now is pretty fortunate, but yet everyone's ready to trade everyone and give up on the season, a season that's seen guys like Mickey and Engvall step up and become NHLers with upside; Sandin and Liljegren looking promising as a 5/6 pairing next year; Muzzin resigning shores up the left side for the next few years at a reasonable cap hit.

Let it play out, whatever happens happens. People expect a perfectly linear tragectory of success, but life doesn't happen that way: sometimes you have to take a step backwards before you can take a step forward.

Our core is super young; while NHL players are starting earlier and having individual success younger than ever, you can't rush maturity and experience and the teams that are winning the cups are veteran teams, which we can't necessarily buy at the deadline or free agency.

Stay the course, play the games, make deals that make sense for the long-term, and enjoy the fact that we have a good young core we can build around locked up for years.
