Tallon would never hand over a decent player.
esp not one that would score 75 points that season, and then trade another that scores 60 points.....so they can keep worse players

- senstroll

Love the sarcasm

He must really hate losing Marchessault and Rielly Smith.

Malgin is fast and can play next to skilled players.

Dubas and Keefe aren’t happy with the bottom 6...no brainer to make this move.

If a Florida fan suggested this trade yesterday, people would have roasted him/her on here.

Can he play defence? Cause we dont need other teams small forward cast-offs...
- Hockey_Reverend

based on his results with Flo rida he is basically only good on the D side

BINGO!

Not to long ago every reference to Marchment on here was how he was the grit that needed to be called up, now he's traded for another smurf and is a AHL scrub. The only way our team is getting the stud D we need is moving one of Marner, Nylander or Tavares. The idea that Kappie or Kerfoot is going to bring back something to take us to the promise land is hilarious

Leafs got Clifford to fill the size and grit boner that fans have

Marchment is 24, Malgin is 23 and plays C in the NHL.. It helps our bottom 6.

We hope.

Is the D the real problem on the Leafs?

Watching last night, it seemed to me the forwards abandoned any responsibilities for their own end. Or, as someone said to me, some of those guys were such great offensive talents they have never had to learn how to take care of business in their own end.

If the Leaf brought in a top Dman, would it be any different without the forwards becoming more defensively reliable players.

This... Defense is a team game.. I don't think a single top pairing D-Man shaves 60 goals against off the record...

Malgin. NHL player.

Marchment 5 games in the NHL and 2 years older.

But yeah Malgin is the scrub

Malgin wanted out. You aren’t getting much for a player like that asking for a trade.

Confirms Bracco’s value too.

I would love to see the GAA since Rielly has been out though.. just to compare.

I think having league average save % would be extremely beneficial.. Hopefully, we can get league average goaltending soon

As predicted at the start of the season.

The Leafs aren't able to maintain a contending roster with mediocre defense and atrocious goaltending.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the other side

I wouldn't argue that Rielly is good defensively.

But the problem is simply that his absence pushes people into roles where they are facing competition that they are not qualified to face. There's simply not enough defensive depth to bump this many guys into these roles. It's not good when the absence of Codi Ceci is potentially an issue.
