Marchment is 24, Malgin is 23 and plays C in the NHL.. It helps our bottom 6.
- PatC80

not sure whether Malgin actually played C most games or wing.. (I thought the second).

Marchment was big, true.

I'm trying to remember what else he did.

You're not wrong, Malgin is listed at 5'9.. But let's be fair, Marchment wasn't going to be a full-time Maple Leaf.

You keep saying he plays 'C', but with a career FO% of 39%, I'm not sure what he does at 'C', but it definitely involves him not starting with the puck.

Hang on to Barrie. You're less than a month away from him almost single-handedly saving your season when your equivalent of Landeskog and Rantanen get injured. Those 8 blocked shots v Dallas are particularly memorable...

Probably because it cost them literally nothing to grab a guy who can play bottom 6 minutes without being brutally caved in when he plays the lowest level of NHL competition? I had higher hopes for Marchment, but in his 4 game audition, he did not look like he could handle NHL competition. It's only 4 games, and he's only 24, but he sure isn't there right now.

well, they got snookered but getting in the weeds of the stats.

the guy is on the ice for way too many goals against.

this is a bergevin type of add a 4th liner to change the fortunes of the team move.

This is a pointless trade for another small forward. I would rather have Marchment and give him another year to develop... just is a weird trade. I heard it on the radio while drive and almost burst out laughing...

Florida? Small forward? No contract next year?

Because that is what we need. More small forward that will require money.

The idea that he asked for a trade out makes me think this was just opportunistic, not intended to change the fortunes of the team.

His cap hit can get buried, he's played actual NHL games, he's probably better than Brooks.

Marchment wasn't doing anything.

Tallon would never hand over a decent player.
esp not one that would score 75 points that season, and then trade another that scores 60 points.....so they can keep worse players

Not to long ago every reference to Marchment on here was how he was the grit that needed to be called up, now he's traded for another smurf and is a AHL scrub. The only way our team is getting the stud D we need is moving one of Marner, Nylander or Tavares. The idea that Kappie or Kerfoot is going to bring back something to take us to the promise land is hilarious

He became an "NHL player"...he just sucks, which was the ceiling for a bottom-6 "leader" who can't skate well...now Magnus Punjabi-Svensson...(frank) that turned out poorly.

seemed likley to be moved

It seems like Denis Malgin has fallen out of favour a little bit in Florida.

He's in his fourth NHL season, so it feels like he's older, but he's the same age as Jeremy Bracco. $750k cap hit, and he can fly.

Might be worth a shot for someone. I like his game.
