Poor guy, all that mess John Ferguson JR. laid in his lap in Toronto - Bonerfide69
I'm liking Burkie more as a broadcaster of late. Not quite as grumpy. Also, he is looking better these days. |

There's no point in arguing about Andersen's play this year.
No goalie would look good.
We were wafer-thin to start the year, and then got franked with injuries.
We can't defend. - Atomic Wedgie
Even healthy, not sure they'd give the effort or have the defensive acumen required to compete in their division. |

The problem is he bailed the team out of quite a number of regular season games they did not deserve to win over the years. Combined with playing more than most in the league, his numbers are a smoke screen at the end of the day.
Fact, he's been poop when it counts... And hasn't bailed anyone out of anything this season. - joel878
Yep, game 7’s and playoffs....but this season I disagree with all the calls on soft goals.
No big deal, I’d look at Lehner too...open to change hoping I’m wrong and it worked.

If the Leafs aren't going to sign Barrie, it's time to move him. This season is a write-off. The injuries, the lack of toughness and many nights indifference says a missed playoff. Moving Barrie and recouping assets should be the right decision, but it doesn't seem to fizz on the Golden Boy running the team. It's delusional thinking that this team can win a playoff round, let alone get in, the way the team is currently constructed. While they're at it, send Sandin and Lillyhammer back to the Marlies and not burn off any years off of their entry level deals. Time for realism. |

trade Barrie - for assets, picks or prospects - whatever.
pick up a fill in expiring FA for the duration of the season... I'm guessing Bogosian might be a little cheap right now.

Andersen stole many games for the Leafs in the playoffs. The team, as a whole, collapsed in Game 7. And Andersen can be cut some slack for the playoffs because he was consistently the most over worked goalie in the NHL. Everybody was quick to blame Gardiner but now want to retroactively blame Andersen when it's convenient.
Lehner had a .908 SV% season in Buffalo (poop team) and then had two great years in a row when he left. Andersen has more consistent numbers over the past 5 years as a 60 game starter with a bigger work load. Not sure you could sign Lehner for any less or get any better results. |

Since returning from his injury, Frederik Andersen has now allowed 11 goals on 66 shots.... .833% - Fruitcakenipple
Without average goaltending any team is in trouble. .833 over a stretch of games that long is horrific. Is Freddy still injured?

Tampa, Boston, Pittsburgh, Washington.
We are not of that calibre.
Trading for a #3 defenceman doesn't get us there.
Stand Pat, roll the dice.
We probably have enough to beat out Florida to make the playoffs.
And then get embarrassed in five.

Im not gonna go full bumhole UG or max and act like I've identified Alex stalock or some random soup can as some obvious solution that everyone else is to stupid to see and proceed to parade it down everyone's throat for months on end and arrogantly spew that they're wrong anytime they say anything different to support my point. I'm not that hung up on it.
I don't know what the answer is.
I just know Andersen, like a whole bunch of bumholes on this team, have a whole bunch of poop holes in their game that they better fix in a hurry or this team is golfing in April. |

His play has dropped massively. True, he stood on his head for years, but this isn't like a gradual decline, this is a nose dive. |

yup on Barrie.
but I believe that entry level deal threshold has already been crossed... so play the kids down the stretch... find out what you have
but don't force them to play with plugs like Barrie or Marincin.
heck look what playing with Ceci and Barrie did for Rielly this year.
