they have had 14 draft players since who have played over 100 nhl games compared to the Canucks 8 you dumb f*ck. the whole point of the argument was the value of draft picks VS the competence of the scouting department. They also have 2 stanley cups, 3 if you include 2009.

Geez it doesn’t take much to bunch your panties. Getting your goat is easy. You must be easy pickings in a game. Bring on more insults if it makes you feel better. I can refrain & dance around you with more antagonism all day long.

Lind was definitely someone I was thinking had value and was more expendable give our recent picks of winger prospects. I don't think you can ever have enough depth down the middle
- WhiteLie

But... lind is a better prospect. Madden is undersized. Weve got three young centers. Nothing wrong with trading Madden. The second is the real loss imo.

It always helps if a team can suck so bad they win the Lemieux or Crosby sweepstakes. Alas we are not so lucky & will have to try the JB model.

Yes but you can’t compare a team with those players to the Canucks lol

Cannot argue against that lol

I don't agree that Lind is a better prospect, but he's definitely closer to the NHL which is probably more important to management at the moment. I'm not concerned with the deal, it has its stings but you gotta pay to get talent and I think Toffoli was worth it.

With the injuries news coming out though, wow, management had a totally valid excuse to tank the rest of the year. The players probably appreciate the reinforcements to keep the season going

honestly, this makes me dislike the trade (despite being ok and understanding of it before). Paying for a rental to supplement a healthy top 6 makes sense, but paying for a rental to fill in for an injured top 6 i don't quite understand. Boeser going down, Leivo being out, and Ferland being placed on LTIR for the rest of the year would have given me a better indication that the team wasn't going to go all in this year, but thats just me.

I agree. I do think it comes from on high, it’s still a business, but it’s good for the boys which lefty elaborated on well. We have a legit second line all of a sudden.

i might be wrong, but didn't they release a statement just yesterday on Boeser saying it was only going to be a few a weeks?

edit, i was wrong - to be re-evaluated in a few weeks, not return in a few weeks.

I thought Madden was a good choice . For weeks I have been saying Madden and a second for Palmeri.

I never seen a future with Canucks

Ya, don't think they knew he was going to be out that long. They initially said a week or so as they thought it was a shoulder stinger, then they said three weeks and reevaluate him on Tuesday (today)... then the deal happened... then today they said 8 weeks.

Swap Eriksson and Sutter. Sutter's had some PP success of late, give him a chance to provide a bit more offense.

They needed to wait on Ferland. If he was healthy then Brock would have been the guy sitting until playoffs.

They knew they needed about 5 mil in cap space to go after a top 6 winger. We are a the time of year where more season ending injuries happen than any other time.

I don't think Canucks are done yet

All the GMs play this game at this time of year.

If your doctors take a month to determine what the injury is I suggest you get new doctors . And even more surprisingly they will be fine when the playoffs start.

Second rounder in a deep draft is very, very valuable and could become a much better than Gaudette.

I do like the team and agree the experience is invaluable.

- neem55[/img]

You are right, it is valuable. What is more important, a pick that may or may not be as good as AG(let alone better), or kids like EP, QH, hitting their prime as a winning team who knows how to perform in the playoffs? We have depth for future top 6 and even top 9/bottom 6. What they need is to get a taste for the Playoffs and wanting more.

Even with the news I'm ok with it. The team was playing good hockey before, so instead of bolstering a good forward group they have replaced Boeser for Toffoli with the hope of keeping it going.

I also think at the verrrrry back of their minds, they are showcasing themselves to a UFA they were going to chase hard this offseason and show him they are a destination franchise again

The only area of the trade I didn't like pairs with rationale I read that with Pettersson, Horvat, and Gaudette the Canucks were set down the middle. Some scouting reports see Madden as a top 6 C, which if true, is better value than AG who seems like he'll be a 3C barring more "late-blooming". The timing for this deal obviously doesn't allow a little more patience to really know but given the lack of Center prospects in your list, it stings a little bit for me.
- WhiteLie

Madden is tracking well, and definitely has that potential, I see him coming in as a winger more than a centre unless he suddenly gains weight. I also doubt he becomes an upgrade one BH, or EP, or BB, or VP, or NH, or even JV. We will also likely find a way to keep TT and TP who will be great 3rd line players once kids like NH and VP push them down the line-up. Oh and JTM as well since we have him for a few more years after this. He also needs to compete with Kole Lind who looks like he will be a good 3rd liner, at worst a really good 4th liner. He was just expendable when you compare him to the value of learning to win and playoff experience.
