At first glance you think no effin way but the more you look at it you say it could be possible . It would also take away the need to re sign Tanev

Canucks would need to add another prospect

- VANTEL

Not sure NJ would take 2 salary dumps, but theyd have to in order to move Subban. Also, Erikssons real money is half of his cap hit right now, so its not that bad....

Was thinking about throwing in another C-Level prospect like Chatfield or Brisebois...

Suban and Hughes would be like Karlsson and Burns, unstoppable!

DCT - I respect your opinions, but you are overstating it quite a bit. It is a trade that cost us 2 pieces that have potential to be NHL players in the future and which is a “pure rental” unless TT re-signs.

Suggesting that a not-yet-drafted middle 2nd round 18 year old pick, or a pint-sized center scoring at a lower rate than AG at the same point in his career, are locks to be future core pieces is very optimistic. Mikita might say “hyperbole“.

We can probably agree it is a win now move.

- SlightlyOffside

Who said locks? I said potentially. I’ve watched enough of Madden and the 2020 class to say “potential core pieces” with confidence. If this is a pure rental, the Petey Hughes team that’s playing 5yrs from now will be missing 2 important pieces - all for this unlikely Cup run. It’s a desperate, stupid trade that middling teams make.

"In addition to the news about Boeser’s injury, Benning dropped a couple of other nuggets on the assembled news hounds. He said the Canucks have “conservatively,” seven prospects who’ll make the team in the next two to three years and that made Madden expendable.

One of those prospects is Zack MacEwen, who Benning says has established himself as an NHL player."

That’s a lot of rookies on their way up.

- NewYorkNuck

I still like the trade, but sometimes I wish Jim would stop talking. 7 prospects making the team in the next couple seasons is irrelevant. DiPietro and some defensemen are surely some of those 7 and has no impact on Madden

If he’s a “pure rental” it’s a Cup or Bust trade that potentially cost us 2 future core pieces.

For fuks sake

The meltdown...

Rick Dhaliwal
@DhaliwalSports
Source - #Canucks are still in mix for Wayne Simmonds.
I wonder if Vancouver could be offering a defenseman prospect.

It is a position of strength for Canucks - Woo, Juolevi, Rafferty, Utunen, Rathbone, Tryamkin.

Normally I dont mind Rick, but saying that the Canucks should/could deal a defensive prospect for Simmonds as its "a position of strength" is quite the take

i would love to see the Canucks go after Miles Wood. Younger, faster, cost controlled, fiesty. Could imagine him being on a line with Roussel and causing lots of havoc for the other team.

It's a "position of strength" like the collection of bottom 6 NHL forwards they were hoarding
