The Rangers still don't know. Should I notify their team office?

On March 3rd, the St Louis Blues will play at the New York rangers.
This will be a confusing night for Jacob Trouba.

What dominoes will fall?

This doesn't change a thing, teams are kicking the tires that they were before this deal. No team is going to put all of their eggs in one basket.

And Ek, any details on the Trouba to Blues deal?I've been looking everywhere but cant seem to track down what went to NYR.

Canucks lose big grinder Ferland and trade big grinder Schaller and replace with a finesse winger. BAD TRADE for Vancouver.

You guys will love Toffoli as he's got great hands and I think the change of cities will give him some energy. Yes you guys gave up a good prospect in Madden but I don't think you guys broke the bank and got outside of Kreider the best goal scorer available. Honestly I think it's a very good deal for both teams.

I like this Vancouver team. They are fun to watch, but they are not a contender yet. They gave up too much. LA made out like bandits.

At the end of the day Vancouver paid the market price in what is a pretty shallow FA pool.

Toffoli should do well in Vancouver as they finally get a RW to play with Horvat and JT Miller. Brandon Sutter just wasnt cutting it.

To say Sutter wasn't cutting it is a bit much, no? He's had the goals and points since Boeser went down. It's unlikely he sustains the play but has been decent as a fill in.
It will be nice to have Toffoli though.

Here's the thing about Vancouver...

They're a young team and are close to becoming legit contenders, so still having good young prospects in the pipeline is useful. Obviously I'm looking at this from a Pens fan's perspective, but Van's window isn't closing, it's opening. Not having a deep playoff run this year or even making it at all isn't bad in the long-run.

Also having those prospects coming in over the next few years allows you to fill out the team without spending insane amounts of money and being able to shop the UFA market.

I'm not saying this trade profoundly hurts Vancouver, but I definitely think it was unnecessary and LA totally won this trade.

Eklund: Toffoli Traded to Vancouver... Who Won the Deal?
- Eklund

Good trade for both teams. Van gives up a former 3rd round pick, a 2nd, and Schaller for a proven top 6 guy. That division is so wide open. Will be fun to watch down the stretch.

I feel like Vancouver won this one on first appearance (but won't know for years). We get a late 2nd rounder and a former 3rd rounder while they get a 27 yrs old proven 20 to 30 goal guy who has scored at all levels and plays sold D. Vancouver now has 2/3 of "that 70's line". I was hoping for a late 1st rounder based on his performances and what other teams are paying for similar assets.

Late ? Vancouver is 15th overall right now.. I guess lots will depend on the end of the season

The nucks like everyone else is seeing that basically everyone is just a good 2 wins away from where the blues and Avs actually are. If the jets do not right the ship and the preds don't actually catch up without trading for someone mortgaging more of their future for it the 5 pacific teams look like they will all be in the playoff picture (order to be yet determined) The flames probably wont move anyone based on injuries, the oilers will gamble on brining FA in that they wont sign, Arizona I believe will trade up as well as vegas to win the name player sweepstakes again.

I don't believe the flames will get out of the first round but even so GFG!

Madden is a good prospect, but realistically he's about the 4th best forward prospect the Canucks have in their system, behind Podkolzin, Hoglander, and Lind. He's also a center, so he is behind the young core of Petersson, Horvat, and Gaudette. Hurts to let him go? Ya. But it's a position they're deeper in, and him being 5'11" and 155 lbs, he's realistically 2-3 years away from playing the in NHL.

I agree they're not set up right now for a deep run, but our division is so poop that they could make a splash once they get in. Would have preferred them to stay put this TDL, but getting a 27 year old 20 goal scorer helps more now, and hopefully they can resign him so it balances out those next 4 years.

Doesn’t seem like an overpay, at first glance. But I still don’t understand the logic from Vancouver’s perspective. You’re ahead of schedule in your rebuild, sure, but are you realistically competing for a cup? I would say definitely not. So why give up assets for a Ferland replacement? If anything, Ferland’s latest diagnosis should solidify their “stand pat” strategy
