Brassard, Spoonmackerel, and Greene. That's about it.

Yep and no players in the all important top 6.

If that’s the case then he shouldn’t have traded a second for Greene

I have no doubt Lou wants to deal it's just how much he is willing to give up. I know it's Lou's job to make these decisions but it's not an easy call with this team and again with the track record of many of the players.

100% agree with this in its entirety minus the bold. I think he may just not certain.
- Cptmjl

We could potentially know if he waived Bardreau because he made a trade in the next 50 minutes. Waivers process at noon.

It's probably more than most people think NJ should've gotten for him, but as much as I don't necessarily think this team is a real Cup contender, I also think that they should be a team that can win a round or maybe get hot at the right time and surprise a few people. Greene filled a need and they paid to do it. They're deeper on the blueline and the sky won't fall if someone gets hurt now. Doubly-so if Pelech comes back in the playoffs and Greene is the 7th guy. I'm not against making some incremental improvements, but I'd rather see them go make some smart deals instead of just throwing assets at rentals and hoping for the best.
- eichiefs9

Yeah it’s not as black and white to you as it is to me. I think we’ve already invested an asset so lameriello taking his foot off the pedal at this point seems a bit half assed imo. This team has been middling to me for to long now so I wouldn’t have been surprised if he did nothing but now that he did I’m hoping for some kind of help up front as well. I see your point I just don’t agree. Standing put now doesn’t make a whole helluva lot of sense to me.

Thats all you really need to say because that’s ultimately all that matters. He has to gauge the market and understand the costs and returns of anything he may or may not do. Any deviation from this is him not doing a good job. When I hear “it’s not an easy call with this team” it means nothing to me. That’s literally what he gets paid to do evaluate and decide. He doesn’t do that he’s not doing a good job. Period. That’s it.

Fair enough. I also see that Greene move as a way to mitigate against Dobson getting his confident wrecked as a rookie. Not saying that alone is worth a 2nd round pick, but it's an ancillary benefit for sure.

I cannot argue this Cpt. Our 3 time Cup winning GM has to make these decisions. I just think the time for the big moves is the summer. I know he missed on Panarin but after that Canes series, some type of forward help was needed and a package around Leddy should have been made in the summer. Isles cannot put their hopes in FA's until Belmont.

If we traded Leddy we would’ve been absolutely (frank)ed. There’s a zero % chance he does that after this season imo.

You cannot predict the Pelech injury, Outside of Dobson, what other Isles player has value you could have moved besides Leddy? Bridge seems to have very few players of value. If the Isles could sign good FA's you can hold onto players like Leddy unless you just want to buy time until Belmont and hope players will not continue to reject the Isles because Belmont is not in the heart of NYC.

I’m not blasting the Greene trade unless that’s all we do. To me there has been quite a few miscalculations and missteps this past offseason and this season with Dobson being one of them imo. I’m not panning the Greene trade I think it was necessary (albeit the price a bit high imo but whatever)there just needs to be more imo. If there’s not I don’t agree with the move whether it helps Dobson’s confidence or not😂

Maybe it was a good idea to get a look at Aho before the Greene trade? I'm not saying Aho is Greene but the Isles seem afraid to try young players unless they were top #1 picks.

That’s the GM’s job to sell FA’s on what their plan is as what a great place their teams hometown is to play in. Like I always say I’m not one for excuses. You can’t trade one of your top defenders for help up front unless you have a legitimate replacement. Strengthening one area while weakening another is not good player management.

I’m thinking the hesitancy to play Aho might have to do with him being shopped. They probably don’t wanna risk an injury prior to the deadline.

Kind of shocked he hasn’t gotten a shot. I can only assume they’re seeing something in practice that they don’t like. This kid didn’t exactly look out of place last time he played in the nhl what has happened to him to make him regress so much? Wouldn’t this make someone maybe question the job Thompson is doing?

No I get where you're coming from. I do think there's some merit to what you're saying even if I don't agree wholeheartedly. I just don't really think there is a clear "right" decision to make with this team because they've been very schizophrenic lately.

He did not look out of place last time and now the Isles have a real coach. We should have found out about players like Aho and Wotherspoon by now. Other teams seem to have no issue calling up players to help but not the Isles.

How can other teams even have much interest in Aho if the Isles are afraid to play him?

Agreed on the schizophrenic team. Like I said the way this team has played recently I wouldn’t have been shocked if Lamoriello did nothing but we did so...

Have no (frank)ing idea? I thought aho was busting at the seams to come to the nhl. That may not be the case evidently(unless they’re not playing him for the reason you mentioned)so it’s hard for me to gauge his value.

Don't think that's gonna do it for Pageau. Ottawa has some real nice looking defensive prospects in Brannstrom/JBD/Lassi Thomson and I'm no sure Aho is going move the needle for them.

Anaheim/San Jose not looking so hot in that department though

Trotz and Lou just aren't going to play young guys unless they have to. That's the new reality. The days of getting to see the young guys get a shot left us along with Garth and Dipshit Doug.

If Dobson were old enough, he wouldn't have been here at all this season either.
