Unless there is a significant upgrade then no...the leafs need to add a top 4 d not get rid of one.

I think Dubas gets Dumba or Subban.

Then he also adds a forward with term.

- Santo_44

Trade Barrie then use what they get back in a package to get someone else. Letting Barrie walk for nothing would be a horrible decision.

Please trade Tyson Barrie.
- Steven_Seagull

I honestly don't understand why this is so problematic for some people.

Leafs are pretty lousy defensively with Tyson Barrie - who coincidentally is a defenseman. Barrie is UFA ... so he's not really helping the team to win currently in any obviously recognizable fashion...

so re-coup some assets for him before the trade deadline.

Wasn't Rielly playing with an injury?
- gergeswillems

Injury or no injury, his defense has always been suspect and never good enough to be able to shut down the other team by himself.

The real important argument is whether the puck crossed the line in a February 5-2 loss in 2019, especially since they haven't won round since 2004.
- aminnes

Agreed.

Stupid Refs.

Whats the thought on Muzzin?

I assume he is going to be re-signed.

I disagree.

He’s helped the PP a lot and is a legit top 4 D.

The leafs are worse without him and the RS is already too thin. Need to add to the RS not subtract.

Agreed. Subban would be awful.

And Dumba's asking price is far too high so I'd stay away from him too.

He’s a pending UFA with a great cap hit and the Leafs are barely in a playoff spot. Trade him.

Nah, They want an established young top 6 center.

there's the rub... 'cause Barrie really isn't a top4 defenseman.... he's pretty much a liability in his own zone, meaning the coach has to shelter him.

now I get that you have to shelter a rookie like Sandin or Llijegren... 'cause they are rooks...

but you shouldn't have to shelter a true top4 guy - and that is simply not the case with Barrie.

Barrie may well be exactly what another team needs or wants... who has more of a offensive catalyst need. Leafs don't.

Leafs not winning cup this year. UFAs can't keep walking for nothing, especially with all the picks dealt away this year.

No he isn't. He's (frank)ing terrible. He's not a C either, he's terrible at that too.

Most of the time, when people say "trade the pending UFA" it's because they want to rebuild. In the Leafs case, they need to trade Barrie to recover assets so they can go out and buy a real upgrade for Barrie because Barrie has sucked.

Canes traded Faulk in the off-season, now they lost Hamilton for a large chunk of time.

They could pair Barrie with Slavin, or shelter him on the 3rd pair with Edmundson.

They have 2 1sts, 2 2nds, and 2 3rds this year.

Barrie for our 1st back.

I'm not saying you suck. I'm saying Kerfoot sucks. Look at his goals and points. Huge drop off. He played the PP in Colorado and a lot of his points came from there. He's a weak player.
