I'm still here.

Freddy is having a bad stretch for sure right now (it started before he got hurt and now he is trying to get back up to speed after being hurt IMO) but he's still a top tier NHL goalie and has been for a number of years.

He has been in the top 5 for the past 6 years.

https://www.quanthockey.c...easons-goalies-stats.html

All the finger pointing and blame laying at the guy is laughable. Most teams would kill to have had a goalie as consistently good as he has been for a measly 5 million per year. Does he have bad / terrible games - yep, just like every other goalie in the league does. You can't expect your goalie to be the guy who makes 10 bell after 10 bell saves game in and game out, once in awhile when he is having a bad game you need to pick him up - the Leafs rarely do this to any goalie and haven't for years and years.

And if you want to chirp about his play this year look at the fact he is putting up numbers very close to C. Price #'s for half the cost.

Leafs need better D. Both guys who play D but also team Defense.

Some just point at the sv% even after they watch the game.

With all the d-men coming off the trade board Dubas is burning up the phones and his hair to acquire one

Based on what the Leafs have to offer right now, and the prices, its likely that nothing will happen before the deadline.

What was the other thing he said that day? I can't remember.

Funny thing is I'm off work that day by accident. I'll pop in and it'll be useless.

Doubt it.

Leafs get a guy with term. F or D.

Dubas aint afraid to make deals. Now is better than the draft.

Helps getting good goaltending...

True. There are several issues with this team. It's a long ways from being where it wants to be.

I really hope the Leafs don’t make a trade.

This year is not our year.

I expect the Leafs will make a move or two. It's only a guess and an expectation. Teams that have had 38 - 40 wins during the regular season have won the cup. With Barrie a UFA unlikely to be signed by the Leafs, it would make sense to move him if they can improve the team

Im not sure it is. What D out there is worth the price theyd have to pay? There hasnt been any good names out there that would make sense. There will be more available at the draft.

Leafs should extend Barrie to trade him to Anaheim for Manson.
Would work for both teams actually.

Have to think Dubas maybe holds firm and doesn't make any trades.. The prices seem high for rentals.. Players with term will probably cost even more

Exactly. This year is done, and it's obvious what the issues are. Cut bait, and look to make moves in the offseason unless there is a dumb GM out there willing to make a deal great for the Leafs, or to trade any UFAs.

I can see Dubas saying Rielly and Mickey coming back are like free trades.

with this, no chance:

Muzzin-Holl
Sandin-Barrie
Dermott-Marincin
Liljegren

this defense would be plenty good enough.

rielly - manson
muzzin holl
dermott - barrie
sandin

Did anyone see Clifford/Campbell from Dubas? Wasn't even on the radar around here. If Dubas makes a deal it's an unlikely name from what has been rumoured.

Yeah, maybe... Montreal getting a 2nd rd pick and a conditional 4th for Marco Scandella is a good trade for them

Manson would be a good add for the Leafs, doubt that Barrie - with his current season and salary expectation gets it done. Manson - has a NTC and LA likes him and he's signed to a decent contract. Leafs have very little trade capital to work with. No 1st, no 3rd and no 5th in the next draft

That is just an excuse. There will be some on the table that aren't now and there will be some that won't be on the table that are now.

Getting the player now with term for the extra playoff run is worth it. Look at the prices teams are paying for rentals.

teams are paying high prices for rentals.. How much will a guy with term cost?

I doubt Manson gets moved, he likes it there, his wife is from there and they are expecting a child..

They don't have a 1st or a 3rd rd pick this year.. If Dubas trades a 2nd rd pick, they won't need to attend the NHL draft this year.

I agree with the idea there's more available at the draft is an excuse. People also say "might as well trade him at the deadline". Karlsson got a lot of that talk. Eventually you overplay your hand and you're worse off.

So great to see these half garbage D going for great prices for two reasons.

1) Leafs weren't stupid and paid for someone that won't really make a difference.

2) Barrie's price just went up which means it's even easier to get a good return on him.

Hopefully they do the right thing and don't shoot themselves in the Richard.

Don't know that Dubas makes significant move at deadline. Prices are high and the Johnsson and Mikeheyv injuries make acquiring a d-man with term to play in your top 4 more difficult since the likely piece going the other way (Kapanen) is needed on this roster right now.

Kap, Dermott, Prospects.

And if not wanting to trade that 2nd is stopping Dubas from making a trade with term then PC is his advisor.

There is opportunity to re acquire picks at a later date as well.
