How did Coleman get a 1st and a top prospect and Tofo gets a second and a minge?
- AdamFrench

So far the devils are doing pretty good in their trades.

Only reason I can see is Coleman has another year at $1.8 and Toffoli $4.6 and UFA. Coleman has 56 goals last three years, Toffoli with 55. Both basically the same player, so I guess the extra is the lower salary and the plus one term.

I feel Dubas has a better dman than Dumba in mind if he wants to make a trade.
- Aaron_85

I hope so.
Cause dumba is not what this team needs.
We have D who can get pts but not play D very well.

Florida 2 points back with a game in hand. This is an epic turtle race to the finish. The Leafs are a back and forth team. I honestly don’t know what to expect on a nightly basis. Welcome to Leaf Land

I'm actually hoping that they miss this year so that they can sit back and take a look at what's really wrong/missing from this team and address it.

I'm not looking forward to another first round matchup (and loss) to the Bruins.

Yep, a year of Naval gazing might do us some good. And yes, the prospect of playing Boston again just plain sucks...

I think Coleman is a bit better overall and has 1 extra year at a cheap rate.
GMs are looking at the rental price and want more than 2 months for those prices

Coleman is a better player ad say, with more to offer, but both trades seem like drastic overpayments.

That definitely helps considering he coudl score almost 30 goals for under 2M next year as well, but its a lot to pay.

Coleman is a play driver and is a good defensive player.

Toffoli doesn’t drive play and is mostly just a scorer.

If these trades are setting the market, I would just as soon see the Leafs stand pat.

They don't appear to have the heart, work ethic, maturity... whatever is missing. I would rather they did not give up more futures.

I'd like for them to do a frank assessment of their roster and make good value trades that bring assets back that will help in the long term, if such trades exist.

If anyone is watching this team and thinking cup run then they need a reality check. This is not the year.

I think it is the maturity that is the issue, with that comes the heart/work ethic etc. Unless they have a bunch of just plain lazy players, if that's the case then personnel changes need to be made.

They are still so young though. Don't want to give up on them just yet.

We’ve also been guaranteed they won’t win a round.

But what if they have a hot goalie a healthy Rielly. Maybe mikhayev snf johnsson come back and they add another forward and top4 d at the deadline?

You never know what could happen.

Indeed, but if the rationale behind the decision making for this team is "anything can happen" then that doesn't fill me with a whole lot of confidence.

Team still has time to win, gotta keep building it up, which won't happen overnight.

If they get in, anything can happen.. The Buffalo game was their 3rd in 4 nights.. After the game, Keefe said that from early on in the first period, he knew that they didn't have the energy to compete..
Not making excuses, but lets cut them some slack for the Sabres loss.
Heck, Dallas played 3 games in 4 nights and they lost to Ottawa.

When it’s the only team you constantly watch you start to only look at the eye test for your team but the numbers for every other team. Not the best situation.

Lots of games left and lots of time for Freddy to get back to at least average goaltending. The Buffalo game for him was promising but not there yet.

You can’t go anywhere really with poop goaltending.
