1. Not worth it, other better options.

2. Nah, not really. It's one of those awards to recognize players that usually don't get recognized like the King Clancy award. It's like Parasite winning an Oscar.

3a. Eric Staal might be worth a look at 50% retained too. He's better than Spezza as a veteran leader and 3C given that he's an actual winner and a better player at this point.

3b. Flames might sell but either way, they might be done with Bennett at this point.

4. It was a bad trade and they need to undo it by moving both of them out of town and recovering those assets so they can use them to get some actual impact players.

5. Doughty. Kings suck (will continue to suck for years) and he's going to get tired of losing eventually. 1.5 - 2 million retained.

- JohnFergusonJr

1. Oh

2. Oh

3a. Staal brings zero grit to this team and is benefiting greatly from being the Wild's #1 C. Spezza is producing at a surprising clip while only playing 10+mins a game. Pass.

3b. I'd be shocked if they were. They really don't have any viable alternatives at 3C. Would look nice in a Leafs uniform, granted, but I'm not holding my breath that he's available.

4. Oh

5.

At least you're consistent.

What you think they should do and what they should do and what they're going to do is 3 seperate things.
- annoyed

Again, most teams that need to tank and rebuild, eventually do it. The Kings are in such bad shape, they're going to be forced to do it because they have nobody in the pipeline that is going to make them better over night. They will continue to suck and eventually, they'll sell everybody off, like they already have been.

Im actually kind of intrigued that his complex is so out of control he's devoted an entire day to this.

Nah, Kerfoot has been fine. Good two-way game with a bit of an edge. But whatever man.
- Steven_Seagull

actually believe Kerfoot has been as a winger for Tavares... but absolutely not as a center... not sure what his face-off stats were... almost doesn't matter. Clearly Keefe doesn't want him playing in the middle - and neither did Babcock.

but UGgy is partly correct on this... not that Kerfoot is bad - he isn't, but he is expendable....

unfortunate that Johnsson is now injured, which limits what Dubas can do - or it will be the excuse he uses for not doing anything.

the team needs a couple of more guys who play like Hyman plays, perhaps with lower production, but a two way responsible guy who can muck it up a bit, who's not easily tossed from in front of the net or along the boards.

move Kerfoot & Dermott (assuming the Muzzin is going to be signed)... should be able to garner a defenseman

move Barrie for picks or prospects... or if you can bundle him with one of the guys above.. then perhaps a Dumba

Spezza brings zero grit but also brings zero Cups and zero real experience. Staal at least has a big body he can use to cycle and shield the puck. Staal can fill in the top-six if somebody gets hurt, which is what you want from a 3C. That's why Kadri was so nice to have.

Bennett is more of a LW for them and he'd be a good fit beside Tavares. He could easily be another Hyman, but younger and more skill potential. Good playoff type guy.

Can we give the god damn troll his own thread to blather on incessantly over nothing in and lock him in there like he is down in his mom's basement for real? PLEASE? 15 pages and like 10 are his utter nonsense spewing crapolafest. Beyond old at this point.

Jonsson's injury sucks but well we do have the cap space and we do have options so be interesting to see what Dubas comes up with to shake things up because clearly we absolutely need more than Cifford and Campbell here. Good move but we need to fix things and we have a chance now here to really make things interesting.

Honestly injuries this year really have put the depth to the test and we just have never really had our full team out on the ice at one time. Something we got lucky with really last year far more than this one.

So now Spezza has zero "real" experience? He actually has more playoff experience than Staal does. Sure, he doesn't have a ring, but he has also been to the Cup Finals before. But hey, no ring = no experience, eh? What a (frank)ing joke.

Is he better than Spezza at this point? Sure. But he would be an absolute waste of assets for the Leafs to acquire as they to add grit to legitimize their potential physicality.

I like the idea of Bennett. If the Leafs can make that happen, they should do it.

I feel like there are guys in the HOF with more recent cups than Eric Staal. Kind of a moot point... But those are his Forte.

Spezza has never been the epitome of work ethic, experience etc. He's always been a me-first, offense first player. It wasn't until he arrived here that people started to pretend like he's some kind of wonder veteran.

But that's besides the point because if the Leafs acquired Staal at 50% retained, Spezza would still be here. So they'd both be here and probably even play together a bit. But Staal is the better player today and over his career too.

Love the idea of adding Bennett.

They're buying into their own hype. I think they're an obvious pretender albeit surprising this year.

Kudos to the Canucks on an overachieving season but they're not going anywhere this year except a 1st round exit, if they make the playoffs at all.

The Leafs might be in the same boat this year (mostly because of being stuck with Boston and Tampa Bay) but at least they have the elite level core players to make a better run next year with the right adjustments. The Canucks on the other hand could go right back to being cyclical wild card team.

He has oppositional defiance. You know, like those pissant 8 year olds that argue everything and make you want to strangle the (frank) out of them.

Except we've identified that he has an inferiority complex and a (frank)ing poop load of time on his hands to.

Go ahead, try it out. He will (frank)ing argue anything. Maybe engage him on core skittle colours and watch him spin right down the retard spectrum rabbit hole for the next 6 hours.

Like a fidget that spits glue everywhere.

I love how the deals being made are what make up the deadline day shows for the networks. Feel bad for the guys who have to be on air from 8am to 5pm.

Good one.

This is how you can tell you don't have children... As if you mentally being one wasnt a big enough tell.

On behalf of the world, thank you for not reproducing.

The Wild West is a mess. Besides the reigning Cup champs and banged up Avalanche, there’s not a team there they can’t hang with in a series. Why is a first round exit guaranteed for the Nucks in your opinion? Honestly curious.

It could be 9 hours talking about Luke Glendening. Babcock will be happy.
