Almost every poster on every Devils Facebook group is crying over one or both. I started replying but got the sensation of beating my head against a wall. We may have the dumbest fan base there is.

It's a good return for Coleman and arguably could work out better than the return for Hall.

I think it's pretty easy and fair to say that NJ got the better of this trade.

But, like any transaction, the important thing is that both sides are happy with the deal. If both get what they want at a price that is acceptable, then everybody wins.

Tampa gets a quality player that fills a need and they didn't give up a roster player for it. That's a win considering Tampa's all-in attitude to win a Cup ASAP. Later on, when Coleman demands a big raise and Foote is still playing on a cost-controlled deal, maybe not so much...

TSN just released their updated trade bait board and has Vatanen moved up to #2, Palmieri put on at #9, and Simmonds moved up to #25.

If coleman got a first and a good prospect I wonder what Palms could get. Maybe Boston tries to match Tampa's move and ships us a lot for Palms.

Would it suck to lose palms, yes. It is the right move, 100% yes.

Yeah i was thinking Boston would atleast call on Palms since they were heavily in on Coleman from the reports. From what i've heard Studnicka seems untouchable, understandably so, so would you consider moving Palms for a 1st and Vaakanainen(their #1 D prospect and #2 overall)? So essentially similar to the Bolts return except a likely worse pick but i think Vaak has higher value than Foote being a D. I think i'd probably take that, it'd atleast have me start considering it.

You won’t give a crap what you traded away when you win the cup. You have a great team and this move should make it even better.

I like what Coleman brings over somebody like Kreider.

Honestly, the Bolts could add a half-dozen new elite forwards and defenders, and it won't win them a Cup until they get rid of Cooper. Torts out-coached Cooper last year.

Would have to seriously consider it. Maybe if Boston includes an extra pick with some conditions on it. Could use a 2nd or 3rd this year after Shero traded ours away.

You’re going to like Coleman. Especially when that 1.8 million dollar cap hit next year makes it easier to retain some of your players. Not a lot of 25 goal two way forwards out there for that low of a cap hit.

SJ needs to start winning or it'll be another spot further from greatness that we'll be drafting.

Meh too many games left and still a lock jockeying to be had to be worrying about other teams winning or losing. As long as we're picking in the top 8-9 i'll be thrilled with it. The lottery is too much of a random poop show to worry about where we finish

Toffoli to the Canucks, wonder what his return will be compared to Coleman's

EDIT: According to Andy Strickland the Canucks are giving the Kings a 2020 2nd, Tim Schaller, and prospect Tyler Madden

I watched him in the playoffs against us and every time he climbed over the boards, I would wince a little bit. One of the few players in that series that gave us trouble. Exactly the kind of player we lacked at the time and needed badly,

it's not about the lottery but about picking 4th vs 5th. I'd rather pick 4th.

Picking 4th vs 5th makes no difference to me. Like i said, if we're in the top 8-9 im thrilled.

This seems to be 100% a sellers market. Idk how Fitz doesnt move Palmieri with these prospects being thrown around the past couple days and weeks. I think he will get a nice haul for Palms. So hopefully he's atleast listening and taking calls(he says he is, but we'll see)

at least we can still comfortably root for Tampa/Coleman since our pick isn't connected to them.
We'll also cross our fingers either Foote or that 1st round pick will amount to a better player than Coleman is now and will be in the next 5 years of his career.

.. same goes for Palmieri, who I'm not really down for trading.

Perhaps if Nico or Jack was a McJesus/Matthews, we'd be doing more building instead of tearing down. The thing is, we're likely not going to be drafting a franchise player this year or next, unless we win the lottery... which is why I think it makes a bit of sense to keep 30 goal scorers with 5 years left of being able to hit that mark. We're selling in hopes of what, drafting/developing an 80pt forward? probably not going to happen.

idk. we'll see what happens. We'll see what Jack turns into. We'll see what the Footes, Merkleys, Boqvists turn into. Nico should have another productive offseason and hopefully be the 70pt center we hope for.

I guess a team with several 20-30 goal scorers could still be a good team.. just look at Columbus. .. who probably won't be winning anytime soon.

- MartysBetter88

How is it going to happen then? We had one and were doing (frank) all when he was still here.

The nice thing is Fitz doesn't have to make a move with Palms. I think everyone would be fine keeping him for the long-run even if it might not be ideal for the timeline. If the market dries up he can always hold and wait for next season. With Simmonds and Vats there is a little urgency but Vats is arguably the best dman on the market and I don't think anyone is expecting much from simmonds.

I have just a feeling all 3 will be moved, maybe not Simmonds anymore since Vancouver was all the big speculation but they just made their big move. Vats should get a solid return being the best rental D, and idk about Simmonds if he goes, maybe a 3rd? Palms could land us a haul at the moment and if Fitzy gets a call with an offer too good to pass up he needs to take it. It seems like we can easily get a 1st or 2nd and B+ or A prospect for him and i dont think you can ignore that

Then they would have to up the prospect...maybe (not sure if Boston would do this)...

either Vaakanainen and a 2020 1st or Studnicka and maybe 2021 2nd.....(also would could always take Backes back to make things work too and change it up a little).....

Bruins probably don't trade Studnicka but those two offers would make me listen for Palms

I really like that they got Foote, just wish they could get his brother too. And then go after Hughes brother.
