“ The Blueshirts were playing their fourth game in six days and third in four, so that might have impacted their play a bit. but the Bruins did play the day before, so both teams might have been slightly gassed.”

IDK, but this time it REALLY feels like it is that special case, doesn’t it?
I assume they can’t talk to him about such things, right?

- Tonybere

Why can't they talk to him? He's under contract to them now. Promise him he'll be captain when he re-signs. You'd think he would see the benefit of doing it for the Rangers too. Obviously there can't be anything written out, but a gentleman's agreement?!? I'm just hoping!

I think they are going to announce a captain next season and give Mika a huge contract with the C. I think you need to sell Kreider on the fact that we want to keep this core intact and we want to keep him and his best buddy around (Mika) long term.
- Awolff9

Who knows what will happen. Will they buy out Hank? Will Hank walk? Smith? Staal? Moving foward signing these players to these big contracts will hamstring the team in the future. Panarin 12, Trouba 8, Mika will get 8-9, then if you add in Krieds 7, that will be at least 35 mil in 4 players. Add in the fact that other players will be in need of contracts, Chytil, ADA, AG, Fox, KK, Igor, etc we can run out of runway real quick. Yes I know the above contracts are a few years out, but ALL of them run concurrent for the next 7 years, so they will be a reality when these other players will need contracts.

I would love to keep AG and Igor as a tandem going forward. What a combo. AG is proving he is an excellent NHL goalie. If nothing happens with Hank, then next year have him backup as he has the last month.

The issue I have with trading Kreider at the deadline, is getting equal value back. No team is going to trade a valuable player already on the roster. Ok so we get a 1st rounder which probably ends up being a late pick and a top prospect. To mean it depends on which prospects we get. The 1st rounder doesn’t excite me.

Give me Byram & Newhook from Colorado if they want Kreider so badly.

- Awolff9

Could always take the 1st and flip it to a team at the draft that doesn't have one for a prospect/player.

Barely 2 sentences explaining the level of play by NYR or both teams ...

Two mistakes, two goals. Boston played a good game, limiting the Rangers' chances and squashed any shot at sustained attack. The Blueshirts were playing their fourth game in six days and third in four, so that might have impacted their play a bit. but the Bruins did play the day before, so both teams might have been slightly gassed.

Now that i have ... i could have missed your detailed breakdown as to why a bunch of 21 yr olds + vets played ..gassed

gave Bos. an easy game of it as I said .... we are the out looking in ...ever hear of desperation... Torts would have had fire & ice for a game like this ..& off till wed.
this holding back Shesty / when he could go , I D K how committed making the P O's are for mgmt & team , they must be reading the blogs for the tolerance & understanding of NOT making P O's again when they are attainable ,BUT you have to put it up to make it happen , its playing all side s against the middle ....

Not sure which way team wants to go ... TRade of HANK is the lynch pin & next 3 games ,after Sat. is when all the moves will happen UNLESS we get knocked over in an offer ... other wise its the fine line of wanting PO's just not going after them , it it fall in our laps ...O K

Jan how bout a lil more on the 2 headed attitude the team is using to play with now

play for the P O's & build for the future .. tough to do 2 thing s at the same time

Its all going to come down to what he wants. If he is gonna give a discount to help the team going forward he will be a Ranger, if he wants to get top dollar for his last big contract and it affects signing other younger players, he probably will be gone.

How long will the Rangers wait? At some point they have to decide to sign Kreider or have to make it clear they aren't. If they have been negotiating for a week or two now there should be some type of physical progress if they are serious about getting it done.

The Kreider that we have been seeing for the past 2 months ---- where has he been the previous 3 years?
CK20 is a very good player, but he is not great. Look at Panarin. That is a GREAT player!
Sorry guys --- just can't see the Rangers keeping Kreider under any realistic scenarios. He is a goner...

Usually the team trading the best player in the deal doesnt get equal value back at the time especially when getting picks and prospects back. Thats why you try to pry as many picks/prospects back in the trade.

Example is the Nash trade. Boston no doubt got the best player in the deal at the time. Sponer was flipped for Strome. Would you now trade Strome and Lindgen for Nash?

Yea but Kreider isn't asking for 11 million per year like Panarin. Him in the 6.5-7 million range is a big difference. You can't compare the two

For sure. They are the top team for a bunch of reasons.
So proud of Buch for that cross check! What a rat Marchand is. Just a horrible human being, and I don’t care what kind of charity work he might do. Any of it has to be PR driven optics. I wouldn’t piss on him if he was on fire.
