I mean I get where you are coming from... I get that pivots are more important to build from than wingers but when you look at this roster... Reinhart is more and I mean MORE than fine as our 1RW. He has been consistently improving every year and his chemistry with Jack is fantastic.
To trade Sam for a 2C when we have internal options like Cozens/Casey who are prime 2C options in the very near future seems to be setting us up for failure. Asplund is the 3C of the future as well. - JVince11
This is verifiably false by some on here. |

Alec Martinez to VGK for a 2020 2nd and a 2021 2nd.
The market has been firmly set... and other teams will now be more impatient to try to match what rivals have already done.
STL grossly overpaid for a dman already... someone else will too. |

I like Reinhart a lot. Probably more than most. I dont think Mittelstadt is close to being a 2C personally. Cozens may be closer or he might be a RW at the NHL level. I also have my doubts as to whether Asplund will hit a high enough offensive ceiling to play higher than the 4th line.

Nobody in this group of defensemen have been traded for anything other than futures at this point, though. Right or wrong, Botterill doesn't seem to be interested in those. |

Takes out long telescope....
EDM just lost Klefbom for 3 weeks and are tied for 1st in their division.
TOR is without Rielly and Ceci for awhile and trying to hold onto a WC spot.
FLA wants a LHD to pair with Ekblad.
CLB is w/o Murray AND Jones.
PHI is w/o Ghost AND Morin.
PIT could use a 2nd pairing guy as Ruhwedel is full starting.
WSH and BOS are both said to be active in trade market as well especially WSH for DEF depth.
Canucks, Flames, and Yotes are all HOT on the trail of EDM and VGK and will probably want to make a move to shadow.
There are still a TON of buyers out there. |

Skinners contract is worse. At least price is good - Fattony1187
By Price being good, do you mean the Price whose save percentage this year is below Ullmark's? 35th in the league and being the highest paid goaltender, Price?
Just asking. |

Well how do you feel about a 3C behind Danault and Suzuki? Because that's where he sits.
He has taken about the same amount of FOs as Larsson does. - JVince11
Close, but not quite.
- Domi has taken a shade under 700, Larsson has 575 ... so about 20% more than Larsson.
- Max is technically 3rd in draws, but only by 25 less...not very significant against ~700
- Larson has taken 2nd most draws on Sabres...so 2C here then right if draws taken is representative of line ranking.
* IMO better guage of line status is Avg-TOI, Domi is clearly their 2nd leading TOI as C behind Denault but ahead of Suzuki. last 5 games seems to be averaging about 17 - 18 minutes
I think making a big deal of 2C or 3C there is a bit weak considering all the above.
he had fallen out of favor for awhile, not sure what the latest is though.

Next year thought:
Mittlestadt - Cozens - Skinner
Regardless of natural position is this something? Or nothing?

It is certifiably insane how good the Coyotes could be if they just even had close to legit centers down there. If Stepan would just be a shell of his former self... my god that team is STACKED.
Hall - Dvorak - Garland
Keller - Schmaltz - Kessel
Crouse - Stepan - Hinostroza

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk. You combine the sabres with the Yotes rosters and they'd lead the NHL in points. |

Both Casey and Skinner shoot left so that'd be a hard combo of wings to have. It was also immediately after the draft that Cozens started getting listed as a RW on some reports and development camp...
F I want Cozens here... He has 11 less points in 25 less games than last year already. Could easily hit 100. |

Depends if you're willing to roll the dice on a kid at 2C again
Also fwiw Krueger said the organization sees Mittelstadt as a center long-term
So Skinner-Mittelstadt-Cozens maybe. I'd sure like them to not do that (again) though |

Same with Cozens is my guess. If they're both too good to get demoted, I suppose one will need to play wing. As neither are defensively responsible yet to play bot 6.. unless we recruit a defensively sound winger or two. |

IMO, I don't like it because
- Skinner should be in Top 6, seems Ralph has him bolted to 2LW
- Mitts needs more time to develop, and he should stay in the AHL until he has proven his style of game translates to NHL better ...more than just a PPG statistic
* I guess he could play 3LW...but if you have MOJO there..then there goes that
- Cozens should ease into the NHL...start him 3RW, promote him to 2RW or 3C when warranted...then again to 2C whn warranted...if tht all happens next season, then GREAT. They need to learn from Tage and Mitts experiments

Depending on two rookies to come in and play 2nd line minutes is a really terrible idea. Have we not learned from this already? |
