Everyone wanted Botterill to do something useful with his pegulacopter full of premium murrancy in the form of defensemen. What we got was Frolik.

And what he got is played

- jcragcrumple

How? At the time, it was part of a way to get rid of a D.
Perhaps there was no one else available?
Let's keep getting revisionist.

He weighs 135 lbs... He won't be NHL ready for about 3-4 years.

Jeff Skinner for Cliff Pu and a 2nd.

Still one of the biggest W's in GM history.

- JVince11

Yup. I’m with ya. That was almost as bad as the ROR trade. If Berglund didn’t shat the bed on us, it’s not a terrible trade. Berglund was a multi year 20 goal scoring center. Him shattin the bed farked the whole thing up. Forced us to ruin Mitts in the process

Advantage how? Everyone on this board wanted him to do SOMETHING. He did something. No one wanted Scandella here so he traded him. I am not sure anyone lamented the move.

Now, because there is a need in St Louis due to a defenseman going down to an unknown heart ailment, St Louis looked to Montreal.

Over and done.

Now, let's go draft Draisatl.

- TC4145

The prized return was Michael Freaking Frolik from the Scandella trade.

There is no excuse for that.

When you see the same player traded months later for a better return, there is no doubt it should be questioned, regardless of circumstance.

It's certainly not revisionist for me. I hated the Frolik move then and I hate it now.

He undermined his own position by trading some of his surplus for Sobotka 2.0 and got absolutely burned

I dont get why you have such a hardon for STH
come sit in my seats for a game and see how many boos there are.
Ball bustin yes but zero boos

- hubie

Because you guys are the ones at that arena most often and it's absolutely embarassing. The whole atmosphere. No buzz. No excitement. The music sucks and is played at a volume barely noticeable. Other team's fans go in there and poop in your cornflakes. How are you ok with that?

Go back to the Frolik trade thread. There is zero revisionist history for many of us who said that it was an awful move from the start.

Yup... pretty much. If Berglund would have come here and played as the 2C vet he was supposed to be then that trade would have been so well forgotten by now it's not even funny.

I guess next year it'll be Cozens or Casey at 2C though. Cozens looks like he is so f'n LEGIT.

Sites have him listed about 155 so......

Also weight doesn’t really matter that much.

Lol.... the entire concept of supply/demand is instantly lost upon you right now.

We had him just sitting in our box and we weren't playing him. He was unhappy and other GMs knew it. So we got a 4th for him when the market was soft.

Now STL, losing Jay Bo for the season has a huge desire and need so they were willing to overpay to get an experienced guy after seeing DeMelo AND Dillon both get traded today. So in addition to the need it was multiplied by other dmen moving today too.

- JVince11

In 11 games in December, the month prior to the January 2 trade to Montreal, Scandella averaged over 15:00 TOI. What box are you talking about, and what wasn't he playing - he sure as hell was playing ice hockey.

To be fair he turned Scandella into Frolik. Which it what the issue is.

So what who cares, both are gone after this year so it doesn't matter. It's complaining to complain.

The Canadiens turned a 4th into a 2nd and 4th

The Sabres turned a 4th into Frolik

Would you rather have a 2nd and a 4th or Frolik?

Barnaby's kid played with him and Barnaby has watching him for a few years, he said the jury is still out on him if he makes to the NHL.

You're failing to recognize that another GM just got a second for Scandella when Botts only got a 4th. It might be possible to explain that circumstances were different two weeks ago but its not fair to say people are complaining just to complain.

It is, after all, the greatest and deepest draft of all time.
