I can't imagine being Terry Pegula. Knowing you axed GMTM, who found the most prolific goal scoring gem this team has seen in 15 years in the 7th round for this play it safe, afraid of his shadow, speed limit obeying, straight edge, absolute loooooooooser embarassing putz. All because he wouldn't fire Bylsma.

Thank you GMTM, your services are missed and appreciated (with emphasis).

BRACE YOURSELVES.

HERE COME THE ARMCHAIR GMS!!!!!!

- JVince11

So we all should be cool with our GM getting a 4th rd pick for a player, and then about 1.5 months later another GM getting a 2nd and 4th for the same player.

Either the GM sucks, or the market was garbage. I think I know which one i choose based on the trades that have happened recently

OR he was so focused on getting Frolik that he rushed the trade.

If Botts was caught with hookers and blow, would you have a different opinion?

Had Jay Bo had his heart issue a month ago then sure but come on
- Stripes77

Sure,

Or the GM so so crazed about getting michael Freaking Frolik that he traded Scandella for teh first late rd pick her was offered.

Michael Freaking Frolik was his big prize.

The GM is ass.

Edit Didnt we all bash the Sens GM for this type of thing over the summer with the Hoffman trades?

Had Boumeester not just about died I am not sure this deal even happens

But again to me the real question I have is why won't Botts retain salary if it improves the return???

Folks don't like any criticism, real or implied, of Botts.

We all sat here and ripped the Sens GM for the Hoffman fiasco.

But with the Sabres its, well injuries and stuff happen, its not Botts fault.

The big thing that I don't understand and would love to get clarification on is why won't Botts retain salary for a pending UFA?

89 has said Botts is against it

Makes no sense to not retain salary if you can improve your return.

Montreal is retaining 50% of the deal and got a 2nd rounder out of it.

It falls off after this season.

That is the only thing I want to know.

- Stripes77

I don't know who started the rumor that he wanted to minimize the overage penalty we're looking at. That does make sense and it's a fair reason to not want to retain. Problem is, that just makes Frolik harder to rationalize.

So Botts screwed up by not waiting closer to the deadline

and having 2.9 million NHL blue liners on his roster

Look I know this season has been a cluster but I am not going to get all up in arms about this Scandella trade

There is no rationalizing the Frolik trade. it was an awful get, and it makes zero sense still to this day.

Whats the difference. The inheriting team got a better result than the team that initially traded him.

But Its Botts we cant rip him because Hes not Tim Murray.

Well he obviously did that to himself going back 9 months now. The solution shouldn't have been Frolik

It was silly then and sillier now. He brought this "situation" on himself

This is the only thing he did right, and it's finally paying dividends 3 years after he was fired and still doesn't have a job. Because he also sucks. He is not missed, or some team would have him at least as an AGM at this point. and no it's not because he can't get another job because of some mysterious non-compete that apparently he's the only one of those that's ever signed. He is bad. The current one is bad. They just happen to be polar opposites.

Lol.... the entire concept of supply/demand is instantly lost upon you right now.

We had him just sitting in our box and we weren't playing him. He was unhappy and other GMs knew it. So we got a 4th for him when the market was soft.

Now STL, losing Jay Bo for the season has a huge desire and need so they were willing to overpay to get an experienced guy after seeing DeMelo AND Dillon both get traded today. So in addition to the need it was multiplied by other dmen moving today too.

You don't have to like the deal, but you can't say acquiring a RW made zero sense.

This GM boxed himself and the other GMs took advantage of it. He had 400 defensemen and took a crappy offer. This is 100% his own doing
