So we’re gonna not re-sign Larsson & Girgs,
even though they’ve been playing quite well,
Bc the previous GM(tm) signed Okposo to that dumb contract??

Insert Asplund & Lazar i assume would be you choice to replace them...
3 things though
-injuries are gonna happen, who we bringing up to fill an important defensive role?
-how do we even know that Lazar & Asplund can perform well with that heavy defensive responsibility?
That’s not something u wanna mess with unless you’re sure imo
-and how much does that even save? 2mil tops?
Big whoop
Lots of $$$ coming off the books,
and there’s plenty of room to bring back 2 players who have played well in an important role

- jdfitz77

How much is the L and G worth it? Both 2+ per?

Alos, could their production not be taken over by say lazar wilson asplund etc for half the cost.

How much effort should we put into our 4th line when we need 2nd line help

If you were either of those guys, wouldn't you want to hit UFA and see your options?

I missed it - who did he whiff on? Would love that 2C but I had not heard that he swing and missed.
- TC4145

He didn't miss on anyone, Mitts was his plan all along after trading ROR

Why wouldn't he test the market? A market that will get him more money then he will get here

Based on?
I know he wasn’t happy with a bottom6 role a few years back,
but it seems he’s accepted that & settles in nicely

Besides...
it’s not like some team out there is gonna sign him to play 2C

No, but he just wants out of this Org, Its been known for sometime he does not like it here.

He will move on, IMO.

He will go to a team like Tampa who needs forwards on the cheaper side.

If he's offered the same amount or more to play elsewhere I'm pretty sure he'd be happy to leave 6 years of this nonsense behind

Thoughts on the Toffoli deal:

I think Vancouver overpaid, but with their latest injuries I understand it a bit

But it was a steep price to pay for a rental

- Stripes77

They may not consider it a rental. Likely they plan on re-signing him. I think it's only an extra 4th if he re-signs. He gets to play with his best buddy Tanner.

Vancouver is actually giving their fans something to cheer about in their 50th season, and with the contracts they have, the team is set up pretty well, allowing them to trade a good center prospect.

Yes, they’re worth around 2mil each

Can Lazar & Asplund full their roles?
Idk that
Just bc they’ve looked decent in other roles,
doesn’t mean they’re ready to take on the enormous defensive load
And let’s say they go that route & those guys do ok... what happens when one of them get hurt?
We gonna bring up Tage to play that defensive role? That would be a terrible idea
Wilson is a UFA who we definitely don’t need

Why can’t we keep them AND improve line2?
Again... lots of $$$ coming off the books
The extra $2mil they might make is easily affordable,
And more than worth it

Depth is important,
even at the bottom of your lineup

Maybe... impossible to say right now
We should be trying at least to keep Larsson & Girgs though

They are without a 1st and 2nd rounder in one of the deepest draft classes of the last 10 years, their cap situation is ugly moving forward, and the only reason they are in a playoff position this year is because Markstrom is playing out of his mind and the Pacific division is a steaming pile of $hit.

They are missing out on adding two prospects to their pipeline to win long term and moved a prospect in Madden that has the look of a 3C with potential to be a 2C.

If Toffoli resigns then that’s great, if not it’s a disaster.

Exactly

This is a move you make when you believe you're a Stanley Cup Contender, not a playoff contender.

Benning is trying to save his job, which he just might for another year or two

Good post

These are the trades of a desperate gm.

Glad botts is showing patience. When it's time, then you trade futures for a run

I doubt the fans will have 2nd round pick FOMO while watching playoff hockey

That JT Miller trade also looks brilliant right now. They're unlikely to get a point per game player at that draft position

Apparently he is scrambling to make a deal or deals,
but no one wants our crap.
Since he either added or resigned the Crap,
Is he patient or merely ineffective?

Get a 2C and a 2 or 3RW, I'll then stand with him.
