I'm obviously not going to flag you.
And I think you're smart enough to know that the 1st amendment applies to government retribution, not the code of conduct on a hockey blog

i should clarify (again, thats my bad) when i was referring to luck i was originally referring to the playoffs, especially when you get down to best of 3, or winner take all/overtime situations.
To your point, the luck averages out over the season, but the best teams are better at taking advantage of it more often than the mediocre or bad teams. - Michael Ghofrani
do you feel botts lied to the fans when he said he was going to create a fast upbeat team that was going to be a pain to play against for 60 minutes?
I ask this because the coaches he hired and the players he brought in, for the most part play anything or coach anything remotely close to what he said
also when pegula said money will no longer be an issue for the sabres, do you feel that was a lie? |

This is the ultimate question: how does one quantify analytics' worth? - Der Kaiser
It's a great question, I honestly don't have a clear cut answer. I think it depends on what you're willing to put into it.
At the end of the day, it's a way of thinking and if there isn't buy in from top to bottom, it doesn't really matter how good the data is. I think this was the core issue that led to Shero's departure in NJ.
From what i've seen, the teams that benefit the most often have excellent communication between the analytics guys and the players/coaches. Everyone seems to be on the same page and they're not just tossing numbers, but explaining why the numbers actually say that this may be a better option.
They can have a negative impact if a team goes into the numbers just to say they did. There was a case of one premier league team that spent millions hiring an analytics firm that essentially gave them false data. With everyone so desperate to find that edge, you're seeing a lot of "reaching" and copycat work.
I.e instead of finding more pieces of the puzzle to help give you a clearer picture, you're getting multiple pieces from multiple puzzles. it's technically additional data, but it doesn't help does it?
I know it's a bit of rambling but hopefully that makes some sense |

I don't think Botterill lied, I think he over estimated the impact of the moves he was making. Individually justifiable, but big picture can't really move the needle because there are deeper problems at the core of the team. for what it's worth, I also think he's a little overwhelmed in his role but thats just a gut feeling.
As for Pegula it's hard to say, but I can't imagine that when he said that he envisioned the team would still be in the bottom 10 right now.

Oh My gawd.... Your OK with a player getting hurt as long as he is showing what you constitute as effort?
So you would be OK with Jack throwing a thunderous open ice body check but blowing out his knee while doing it?
I just don't get that. You are entitled to your opinion and I respect it. Just don't agree with it. - hehateme
Fair enough 🤝
I'm just saying more effort more speed leads to more injuries.

He plays on a line with eichel.
Everyone can look and see that he has good point totals.
That's all sammers have - look at his points.
You went to the game last night. Basically our season on the line, solid team effort.
0 g 0 assists 0 points 1 shot 0 hits from Sam
Talk about bringing intensity to a big game ?
Did you even notice him, aside from the turnovers and the 1 nice pass to victor?
2/3 guys trying to shut eichel down every shift.
His points are inflated , they shouldn't pay him big $ for what eichels doing.
- zero leadership
- zero clutchness
- zero strength in battles
But hey , 60-70 points - Boss34
This guy gets it.

The story of the offseason is that he fell in love with his draft pick in Mittelstadt and was blinded to the fact that Mitts was ill prepared to fill the role he needed.
Similar to Darcy overestimating the value of his core.
If Botts stays, someone needs to give him periodic reality checks (peepee slaps), because I dont think he's capable of making solid decisions by himself |

We have suspended defenseman Zach Bogosian due to failure to report to the Rochester Americans.
There will be no further information or comment at this time. |

Problem is two coaches in a row could’ve helped Mittelstadt by giving him better line mates and potentially helped his confidence, and instead they buried him and forced him to the AHL.
He scored 13 goals as a rookie in his first year in pro hockey. There was 0 reason to think he couldn’t make a jump to competent top 9 center with better wingers
The GM publicly stated Sam Reinhart was capable of driving a line, yet neither Housley or Krueger would give Sam + Mitts an extended look. |

I figured he wouldn’t show. He thinks he’s better than he actually is.
And I agree this is the same process they used to terminate berglunds deal. Botts doing the same thing with bogo.

Sry flagged you by accident
Sure, I would have liked to see him with Mojo and Reinhart as well, but at the end of the day, Mittelstadt was in over his head no matter who the linemates were. He simply wasnt ready to play 18 minutes a night at 2C
Nor was anyone else on the team for that matter |

Rather have Marchessault for 2 million cheaper than those 3 will be. Brings the same things as those other ones. Him and Skinner could be deadly together. - Buff36
I’m ok with that as well but you still need to figure out the 2c for those guys.
I know most have spewed with him as the main piece. But could Eakin fill that spot as an additional piece? Try it for the rest of this year.
Skinner. Eakin. Marchessault ?
I honestly don’t know enough about Eakin.

Don't know the rules on contract termination/breach but i think this would be in everyones best interest.
nobody was taking bogosian on his current deal, but they might add him as a FA. If he can find the right team/role, maybe he earns a contract next season, because as things stand he'd probably be heading to europe. |
