trade 2 or 3 guys for 1 player that is much better then those 2 or 3
the last thing we need is to trade one of our better players for pieces
you want to contend, trade risto and johansson for RNH
trade mccabe, davidsson and the 2021 first round pick for mantha
that is how you get better and compete right away

Gotta agree with the clown. You add to the depth and players up front. For those that want to trade Sam and add one of the older, players with less points. Why not resign Sam and target one of those guys. Trade for the center...

My point is that the buzzwords you hear after a team loses in the playoffs like toughness, sandpaper, snarl are hogwash. It's easier to talk about and direct anger at irrationally rather than accept the fact that sometimes your team loses due to puck luck. - Michael Ghofrani
Thank you for clarifying Michael.
Serious question. If puck luck is so determinative in the NHL, why spend all the time in the data?

It's all about edge isn't it? if you can connect the dots using data to give your team even a small advantage isn't it worth it? Put your team in the best position you can to take advantage of luck when it comes your way, or help weather the storm when it doesn't.

So the best teams, have the most luck. OR do they just have better, more talented players.
Luck balances out over a season, having really good players, doesnt.

you may have to work down the rw free agent list a little because those top guys may command too much money.
I’d like to see Sam at 7-7.5 Over 7 years. - Gr8daygo
Rather have Marchessault for 2 million cheaper than those 3 will be. Brings the same things as those other ones. Him and Skinner could be deadly together.

i should clarify (again, thats my bad) when i was referring to luck i was originally referring to the playoffs, especially when you get down to best of 3, or winner take all/overtime situations.
To your point, the luck averages out over the season, but the best teams are better at taking advantage of it more often than the mediocre or bad teams.

This is the ultimate question: how does one quantify analytics' worth?
