Most guys get hurt putting forth effort.
Blocking shots, skating fast crashing into the boards, checking and even fighting . Kinda doesnt apply here.

* it's a good quality to be there for your team every game, regardless of nagging injuries ect. Props for dressing in consecutive games

Vomit vomit vomit.

The best players in the game, are they good at offense, or good at Checking and fighting.

Also mindlessly crashing into the boards is the stupidest thing i constantly see.

Lets Bring Kaleta back in that case. he was the best at that.

suppose it depends on what value you place on which intangibles. I think there's a lot he brings outside his points that is very valuable even if it's not necessarily entertaining or flashy.
- Michael Ghofrani

I think Reinhart is objectively good at hockey. I'd like more players who are good at hockey. If they happen to be gritty enough to strip the varnish off the table, that's a bonus

You do realize the Sabres have a presing D-style that shuts down other teams.

They just dont score.

They are a very sound Defensive team.

Having Larsson/Girgs/Frolik/Okposo on your bottom is good (Not salary good, but good)

The top of the lineup is putrid, and has been for years.

The best teams in the League in scoring per game
1) COL
2)Tampa
3) Washington
4)Toronto
5) Florida
5)Boston
6) Pitts

Some of the leagues best teams.

Edit - Very Late

2 good forward pickups, a couple youngins come up, and better goaltending, they could be a dangerous team.

I just want to know who is replacing Reinhart and his 65-70 points a year.

The guys below him are the reason Skinner sucks, so......

Boss that is the point with Rhino, He is not expected to crash the boards, lay crazy body checks, fight or block shots. They expect him to put up 70 pts with jack as his center, that he is doing. I would rather have Sam in the line up, then out of it.

Either transition Dahlin into Foppa 2.0 or trade him for the best 2C you can. He does nothing to move the needle playing defense for this team. Defense doesn't matter in today's NHL. 3ER has been saying it for years folks and it isn't even close. Now the Analytics analyzers are saying it. Are you surprised I'm way out in front? Me neither.

Just read Barnwell said Bills should target Conklin. Just another wise subscriber of the 3ER takes. Like they always used to say, 3ER isn't always right, but aint ever been wrong.

- Hatboro_Swords

I think you're mostly right. Since Dahlin already plays like he's a fourth forward out there, he can move the needle from the blue line, if allowed to do so (hasn't happened much this year)

Someone did a study I think 2 years ago? that found teams could earn about 7 more points on average if they played 4 forwards and scrapped their bottom pair. I think that's coming soon to the NHL, especially with everything so matchup heavy. Most bottom pairs in the league are providing negative impact over 82 games.

It seems to be a common theme among actual contenders

i know you are an anti analytics bastion but that is exactly what this current sabres team does. almost better than any other team in the league.

they drain the life out of games, make them as boring as possible with as few scoring chances as possible. but they can't score, and they don't win.

maybe if they brought back hasek this would work better

- robz228

Yeah, the Sabres should just go out and sign every good scoring player. They just miss to often.

I think that's what tanking is about? No one is losing for a plugger?

The Bill's should sign some great receivers, score more points too. Sign aj green and amari cooper.

Let tre white walk and tremaine Edmonds.

I still think Oilers trade RNH, I would give Risto for RNH and throw in a pick if needed.

No one is saying this, but adding more defense and non-scoring forwards to teh Sabres is redundant at this point.

The Sabres need scoring in the worst way. They have the defense. They need the scoring.

Good post

I'm wondering if other players could put up good points with jack? Or do we need to possibly overpay sam, for Jack's skill?

And we could use Marchessault, would make that 2nd line dangerous.
