I'm a big proponent of McCann being the 3C and I think the future of this team looks brightest with him there as long as they have the right players in the top six. The only reason I'm a proponent of Joe right now is that this market is shaking out to be some serious overpayments and as much as I'd like to see the Pens get a solid rental RW which would allow McCann to go back to C, I'd rather them spend less and Joe is that option.

I don't know how Bjugstad will be when he returns, how long it will take him to get back in a groove, but playing wing will give him less responsibilities than player center and just focus on opening up space for whomever he plays with.

Joe is a player Sully would love. While he doesn't have blazing speed, he's good defensively, smart player and works hard. He would do a lot of good with the Pens IMO. He's not my first choice, but outside of the obviously available players, he seems like the best choice in terms having to overpay players.

Suddenly you started to write big texts. I liked your style better before the change lol

Considering Bjugstad and Guentzel are hurt and will take longer to come back:

Simon - Crosby - Zucker
Kahun - Malkin - Rust
McCann - Thornton - Hörnqvist
Aston-Reese - Blueger - Tanev

That's a pretty good lineup as we have good shooters in every line. Thornton would be pretty happy with his partners.

I think that's fair point, but I won't be shocked to see someone give them a 1st or a similar return as Toffoli.

I wouldn't either. A physical defenseman who isn't a possession drain is something everyone wants.

This is why I don't think the Pens are/should be players for Dillon. The ONLY reason I would understand the Pens paying the price is if it looks like Dumo may miss the first round. They can ride out the rest of the season, but if they don't have him ready for the playoffs then it's time to bring someone in.

Joe would be an awesome upgrade and I could see him being had for cheap as sj would be helping him get the cup before he retires. Hell yeah id be all over this. He could skate around punching Barzal and ovechkin in the head nonstop instead of Sid.

I'm not sure how Joe would fit into Sullivan's system. Joe is a great player but he plays a slow style.

No ZAR. Didn't want that line broken up but Hornqvist and Tanev together has always made me curious for the chaos they could create.

Odd placement for Kahun, expected him back with Malkin, but maybe the plan really is to keep McCann in the top 6 and Bjugstad at C.

Zucker - Crosby - Simon
McCann - Malkin - Rust
Tanev - Blueger - Hornqvist
Kahun - Agozzino - Lafferty

Why do you say Tanger is getting stronger each game? Because hes put some points up?

His underlying stats, along with the team's, are dropping and dropping with JJ next to him hahah

Your top pairing should have the best combo possible. Then your middle pair the next best 2. The 3rd pair can be sheltered better then.

This is the last 12 games...Rikky has been their best D-man since back in lineup. Now obviously he's getting more favorable match-ups but I think he totally deserves a long look at 1st pair LD along side Tang.

I'm not a stats guy, but historically I watch the D as much as they're in the view on TV, and at games (when I'm fortunate enough to go) I watch the D. Call it a hobby, and yes, Letang has been playing better: more aggressive when it's ok for him to be mostly, and less risky when the moment calls for it. Pretty simple. Does he have fewer opportunities paired with 3? Yes. It's what he does with them that matters.

If anything it gives Sully an idea of how that line preforms without ZAR for a bit. No doubt Horny can finish better and isn't any slower

So does zar and he was on the only line sully wouldn’t touch. Joe wouldn’t be in the top 6 so I don’t think his speed would be an issue. That and that fact he would be currently replacing aggazino, or bjug if he can manage to play without getting hurt. And bjug ain’t that fast either.

You've been giving Letang the grills in the past week about his turnovers and the rate for them. I responded with thats what was sticking out to you but really he's taking alot of risks he doesn't turn over.

I too watch the games. Pretty much every single one...only full one missed this year was vs the Caps. I love the stats but not near as much as watching. In the case of JJ and JJ/Tang my eye test matches the stats ...everyone eyes are different though.
