depends on the age of the player obviously.
signing a 30 y/o player to a 5 or 6 year contract is fine.
unless his name is Lucic but that is another story.

Recipe for cap disaster with Price and Weber already there, you resign Tatar and Petry to expensive long term deals and you have the same sh!tty team, only in cap trouble

you think you are the only one wondering that? Probably Tatar himself doubts he will be able to keep the same rythm for the coming years.
- pidesd

So you think because of this he will take less term and money?

Petry is making 5.5, how much do you think he will sign for? 10M per??? relax, it won't cost that much to extend both of them.
will it cost more than now? sure. maybe 3M total for both of them imo. less than what they give to Alzner.

Petry could fetch 8 as a UFA, the market has exploded since he signed that deal and so has he, putting up career year after career year

Tatar probably close to 7, like Petry, his last big pay day coming off career years

It will cost around 15 million for both, they're paying them just over 10 with vegas retaining Tatar money

I see Petry taking 5x7M and Tatar 6x6M, 13M for both.
yes they could probably get more on the UFA market, not sure they'll get there though.

Even at that....

Price 10.5
Weber 7.8
Petry 7
Tatar 6

And Gallagher + Danault 7 & 6?

Close to what? 45 million already?

On an aging goalie, an older D who can't stay healthy, a couple 2nd line wingers and a 3rd line C? Oh and Petry until he's 40! That seems like a winner to you?

wtf are you talking about?!? Petry is 32, a 5 year deal would bring him to 38.

He'll be over 33 when his deal expires, so he'll be close to 39 when a 5 year deal expires... still funny that out of all that, your only argument is about 14-15 months!!

What about more than half the cap spent on an old core that failed in their prime?

And he's gonna get 6 anyway
