I know we're not in "Edmonton territory" yet, but I feel like the short term pain has been here for a while now lol...

anyways I'm not against any kind of trade if it's for the greater good, I'm just a bit skeptical about trading a player that's actually having success here

- Pat1993

I know the overall picture looking back is a (frank)ing mess, I look at the Pacioretty trade as the turning point... and the next steps after dealing Patches, is Petry and Tatar... the plan has a much better chance of unfolding if they actually stick to it, not trading those 2 goes against the grain right now

not if you trade Petry and Tatar. both would then ask for a trade this June.
that would then be a full rebuild, and many more years of great draft picks

- fidopro

After you get the return on Price, Weber, Petry, Tatar, Domi & Kovalchuck + a top 10 pick in this draft and add it to this prospect pool, your rebuild is pretty much done

oh sure, but it will take another 3-4 years before they start making the playoffs, so more good drafts coming up!

I'd rather watch 2-3 years of a young core progressing to a playoff spot than this same old song and dance

OK.... but what would be your lineup for the rest of the season and the year after?

plus: if in 5 years of rebuild, you finallym realise your propects were not what you though they would be? also, you need a certain amount of veterans to show the way on the ice.

the habs needs to move players with a certain value to others and not much to us. I would trade tatar, only if we get a better player in a package, not for picks.

no no no !!!!

they need to trade everyone over 28, every (frank)in one of them.
it's a receipe sure to succeed. just take a look around the league, there are plenty of great examples.

You would trade Tatar for a better player? A better player how? Tatar & Petry returns would be based on potential, not established talent... those would be sideways moves

But the team trading him was in a much different situation, what's your point? He was also traded for a 1st, 2nd & 3rd a few months earlier

he would indeed become one of their best.
righthanded, used to score 25-30 while leading in hits, until last year when he was injured. buy low.
but you're right, at 26 he is way too old.

It is a bit old but those 18 goals in the last 120 games played, I mean how can you pass up such a sniper

a better player than tatar?

1 pt per game player. there are not many and you have to pay for them

What? 😆😆

It's not impossible he gets moved for only potential? No, of course not, it's all the Habs would be looking for unless a player was a salary dump
