Yeah, that kid can play in the NHL for sure.

As for this year, Laval needs him back badly.

Bergevin and Mellanby at the Avs/TB game.

Not sure why but I don't expect much from MB, he is not a big fan of the TDL usually except for depth players

What Laval needs is major talent infusion.

They have some good AHL vets and some good young talent this year.

I honestly expected better results.

should get a boost next year with a few guys "graduating", question is...will that be considered "major"...I doubt it

The positive thing is that most guys seemed to have improved over the year.

And that's the whole point of the AHL.

NO way in hell he moves Price and/or Weber....that would be a complete change in direction from his "reset"

Gotta grab Pierre-Édouard Bellemare somehow

On a serious note, he would be an upgrade on what they have now.

he said a couple years ago that he much prefer trading in the summer than at the TDL, more flexibility.

MB has no saying in this. if Price says I want out, he'll trade him. period.

That's true but he has assets that teams will really be calling on this year, might force his hand

Riley Barber and Phil Varone were brought in for the AHL and they have been under performing. I get that Varone was injured but still, this is way below his AHL standards.

the question is...does he think he has the team when healthy to challenge for a playoffs spot next year or did the plan change and rebuilding with quality young assets more important than pretending to try to make the playoffs?

well it could (COULD) be that after 4 playoff misses in 5 years, it might (MIGHT) be dawning on Bergevin that maybe (MAYBE) his approach is not working.

Without a doubt they'll change vets next year. Guys like Phil Varone have under performed a ton.

I'm sure if healthy and Price stands on his head they could challenge for a spot, the real question is, is that good enough? If that's all they should be aiming for, that's the answer right there....

He should be entertaining offers on 4-5 pieces that could net him awesome returns
