Do you honestly think that 27 year old, first time NHL UFA, former 30 goal scorer Tyler Toffoli will sign a 3 year deal? Like Markstrom, this is probably his last chance to get a sweat heart deal to provide for his family long term. Canucks will need to go David Backes to get it done

He had 13 goals last year...13, and up until the outdoor game a few days ago he had 14 goals this year, Virtanen was out scoring him. He doesn’t have a lot of leverage.

He need to check with his astrologist first . He will get back to you.

Just saying, keep it real folks. He could help them cement a playoff run, don’t expect a home town discount...

Everyone in here really appreciates Button’s draft analysis, he’s well respected in these parts.

I bet he really cares what everyone in here thinks as he makes 6 figures traveling the world seeing the best hockey in the world.

There is at least one GM stupider than Benning out there who will give him $6m x 6

Why would Eriksson forego any salary owed to him?
- 1970vintage

He is retiring after this season. Take it to the bank

True, I just hope it’s not Benning, we have enough bad contracts still on the books. 6 x 6 would essentially be another Eriksson contract.

Here is my take on the what if he doesn't sign, Benning has been after toffoli for along time so you would think he would have a good idea if he would sign here or not, if he had indication he wouldn't sign here there is no deal.

I don't . I think he will be looking at 6x6 and I am sure if we are aware of this , Canucks might be aware of that too before they traded for him

After they pay his July 1st money I’d say there’s a good chance of that.

You can’t talk to player agents about players and contracts who aren’t on your team. Benning already learned this lesson the hard way with PK. You know nothing Jon Snow

You’re as stupid as Don then. I’m sure the league would feel really good about the cap circumvention in this case.

I think Benning is prepared to forgo the future for today, at *almost* any cost. They’ll look into signing him, but I don’t expect they will have the cap $

Name one team who would pay Eriksson more than league minimum for anything longer than 1 year.

Take your time

I’ll give you some help

No team would sign him, even for league minimum.

- 1970vintage

Even your scenario isn't giving up much money. A year on a show me deal on a team that wants him over one that doesn't would be better for him. But look at all the Canuck cast offs that are still playing. Not an LE fan but other NHL teams would find value in him that don't have the depth and options the Canucks do.

Remember when Ohlund signed the 142 page contract 3 minutes after the opening of free agency.

Exactly. Im confident benning and his agent had a convo. No Utica this season and as a reward he will then (frank) off after the bonus.
