5 years? That's a stretch man... I thought I was thinking too far ahead... this offense is not built around Tomas Tatar for the next 5 seasons, if it is we won't have to worry about putting gas in the bus for a very long time

that doesn't answer the question

When is the seattle thing?

They have to think about this.

- deadpoulet

After next year.... lots of factors come in to play, that's why I'd be willing to throw them as much as a 2nd rounder to do what they're told

and who will replace him over the next 5 years?
Drouin? Domi? Kovalchuk? Lekhonen?

- fidopro

hard to say if you don't factor trades or kids.

Tatar came in a trade, so you might expect us to get some players back in trades or with the draft.

I like him, but how old is he? 29?

By the time this team is a contender (if it happens) how old will he be?

Goal Caufield might help to fill the net by that time.

Next year. And I'm wondering if they'll approach Price about waiving his NMC to go to Seattle, and if Seattle would want him. Close to home for him, less pressure...i can see it happen.

Well, let's explore that, shall we my good friend

The top 9 next year without Tatar would include?

Suzuki, Gallagher, Danault, Drouin, Domi, Kotkaniemi, Poehling, Byron and say just for fun they welcome back Kovalchuck on July 1st! And the 4th line is Armia, Evans and Lehkonen? Yup, I think they could survive without Tatar, if the return really addresses the lack of D coming up

Wouldn't that be just fantastic but the organization won't let that happen... they won't let Price go in an expansion draft... would they?

Caufield is a RW. and 5'7''. let's not get carried away to soon.
Tatar is 29 so yes if they have a good team in 3 years, he'll be 32. Is that really too old to contribute? I don't think so.
but let say they trade him, and if it's certainly possible. who do they have to fill his spot on LW? beside Drouin, no one. and I'm not sold on Drouin yet, far from it.

They'd have to trade. It would be similar to the MAF deal. They agree to a deal before the draft, take Juulsen who's still injured and on Lupul Island, then trade Price for... Well, we'd have to see.

Hard to say, but it could be... zero chance they go down that road though

Hard to even imagine what a Price trade could look like right now, harder to imagine one that would be favorable to Montreal

I think this team is more than 3 years away.

They are a mess.

Only 3-4 teams would have legit interest in him, then there's the contract... and agreeing on a return that makes sense for both teams, he'll be the last to go and that's alright, not a bad mentor for Primeau at all, regardless, Price is a class act and a gamer for sure
