Yeah well like that's your opinion man. During that 2-3 year "mod period" the DC5 was pumping out as many top-40 hits and the Beatles were. And again - I'm not saying DC5 was more culturally impactful because the Beatles were a phenomenon like no other. But for that 2-3 year window the DC5 was right there with the Beatles and in my opinion were better for that short window. The Beatles would continue for 3 more year of their HOF career while the DC5 faded into the past. - EbonyRaptor

Think Britain owned the 60s and early 70s, while the American rock bands came on stronger late 70s, early 80s, like Van Halen, Aerosmith, Boston, etc. - pdx2ord

Start with baby steps. Strome and Dinky need to show they can handle the (frank)ing puck without fumbling it. They combined for a goal last night after Dach did all the work. Other than that play, it was painful to watch either of them be near the puck.
Dach was centering a helicopter line to quote a former coach. - Elbows15
It's gotten so bad with DB's flubs that Nylander looks deserving of a promotion from Line 4.
And they can send Strome to the hinterlands and avoid wasting time on negotiating a new deal. Or just text him with a $1M x 2 offer and hope he signs in the Swedish league. |

Big win last night. Still a big mountain to climb for playoffs land.
I'm very interested to see what happens with Lehner. There's a lot of whispers going on right now.
There aren't a lot of teams that will he in the market for a starting goalie... CAR and COL would be a couple that come to mind as options, but the stars would have to align for Stan to make a move involving him by the TDL.
If the Hawks keep Lehner past the deadline and turns out he doesn't want to resign in CHI, the Hawks can always trade his rights prior to July 1st - to let's say CAR - for a pick/prospect.
For the record, my vote would be to sign Lehner and trade Crawford but we'll see how it all plays out. - Tyler Cameron
My preference would be to sign Lehner to a 4-5 year deal.
What I think will happen - Lehner will be dealt, by the TDL or after the season (a la Darling) and Crawford is re-signed to a 1-2 year deal. Stan will trade for a young goalie who will be groomed to take over from Crawford. Maybe somebody like Georgiev in New York. Or maybe Stan targets a European free agent goalie. |

Except that, as has been stated, they could still potentially get something for him in the off-season by trading his rights prior to free agency. - Ogilthorpe2
No doubt, but minimal return compared to this week’s probable return. If we can’t sign him, need to get some value sooner rather than later. Just like Gus should have been traded last off-season. At this point we have to get as much value back as possible in any trade. |

OK - we've found common ground.
DC5 was great 64-66.
Beatles were greatest 63-70,
Stones greatest of all time - no other comes close to the Stones 50+ year reign.
I'n fact I might put Led Zeppilin as the second best band ever behind the Stones and ahead of the Beatles. - EbonyRaptor
Zeppelin? Nah. And I like Zeppelin but the Who were a far better band |

Can we really count Boston? They define the term one hit wonders. Except their one hit was an album. BTW. If I never hear more than a feeling again, it would be fine by me.
I would put Chicago in there long before Boston. |

A question for the sign Lehner group. Who are you willing to lose to sign him? Cause they will need to lose some salary to fit Lehner and fill out the roster.
Assume both de Haan and Seabrook return next season. Assume Shaw does not.

Stan will screw up the timing of any deals for Gus or Lehner, that’s a guarantee.
I don’t know what the market would be for Lehner, as Ty pointed out in a previously blog there haven’t been too many goalies of Lehner’s caliber traded at the deadline.
If Stan got a 3rd for Darling he should be able to get a 2nd for Lehner. Not great, but better than letting him walk for nothing.
I expect Gus to go, but not until deadline day. I’d guess something like a 2nd round pick and a B or C prospect. |

Motown says hello. - Ogilthorpe2
Like Stax, Motown had vocal groups, but only one “band” - the Funk Brothers - the backing rhythm section group on most of the Motown hits.
Stax had Booker T. And the MGs (and the Memphis Horns) on most of their early greats hits. Steve Cropper (guitar) and Donald “Duck” Dunn (base) later became the guts of the Blues Brothers band.
Both Funk Brothets and MGs are in the R’n’R HOF. |

I think Strome gets moved. His value to the Hawks was as a 2C/3C. I am not sure his skating ability will allow to play that position at the NHL level. |

Maatta and Smith - DarthKane
Not sure why but I am going to pretend you are serious with those names. Do you think they can move both without any useless salary coming back? Maatta, maybe. Ain't happening with Smith.
If the Hawks buyout both, they gain ~5M in cap space. Still would need to give up one of Caligula, Strome or Kubalik I would guess. |

I like The Drake but I think he’s gone. Strome - 50/50 he goes. Kubalik should stay, but it’s not guaranteed.
Edit: the “X” factor is how much the salary cap ceiling increases next season. $84 million would be reasonable. Anything less and I will admit it’s unlikely Lehner stays, if it’s more that helps the odds. |

I think Strome is more likely to stay - Stan’s one reasonably successful former-high-draft-pick reclamation project. |

That would be more of an off-season move, not sure these type of moves happen at TDL, but we’ll see. The return on a Strome trade would be very interesting, and without a new contract announced by end of season, a Strome trade could very well be a likely scenario. |

I am not advocating it. It is just what I have feeling is going to happen. I have no idea what Strome's value is around the league. I hate to keep bringing it up but his skating is a real issue in a league getting faster every season. Would teams use that to diminish his value? |

Lehner trade him to carolina or Colorado because not signing with the hawks. If reports are true he wants 7 to 8 million bye bye. I would only sign him 4 years at 6 million per year otherwise no. |

Here is my problem. From year to year you can throw a whale net, yeah yeah, around goalies who can win enough games to make the playoffs. Lehner falls in that group.
The Islanders sure haven't suffered from letting him go.
The Hawks can't keep pissing away forwards they find virtually for free in the Euro market. I am aware Kubalik was acquired for a 5th but given the success rate of 5th round picks, he may as well been free.
There is no one to replace Kubalik in the system. |
