What picks?
Kovachuk: 700,00 a 3rd
Thornton: 1M 3rd
Byfuglien: 2M UFA aka FREE
All prorated of course. - Savard2Secord
Why would you want the Hawks to have these three? |

I have no gripe with JJ - never did. In my opinion he could be thin skinned at times with some posters but I never experienced it first hand. I did experience the "pissing-matches" and can say JJ wasn't always the lone antagonist. I will also say JJ did freely express his opinions, but was sometimes ungracious when others did the same.
I'm grateful to JJ for spending his time to provide Hawks fans a place to hang out. So be wasn't perfect - so what. |

First JJ lost any credibility he may have had when a bunch of us fed him bullpoop rumours and he posted them to this blog as fast as he could all to generate hits never investigating the rumours or my claim that I knew “Bob”. What was funny as hell was that his other “sources” were verifying the bullpoop we fed him. JJ is full of poop, we know it, you know it and JJ knows it.
I have no idea if Tyler’s sources are accurate but he doesn’t tell us over and over his sources give him trade info either. Tyler is actually anvery talented blogger who has the ability to write a different blog to generate real discussion with our resorting to fairy tale trades.
Power enforcer is harmless but his ridiculous, easily to dispute tin foil hat conspiracy theories, are there to be ridiculed.
6628 is knowledgeable and I like what he brings to the blog. No I don’t agree with everything he posts but I’m sure he doesn’t agree with all I post either.
Now we come to Steve Rain, the guy who posted absolutely nothing positive in 2010, 2013 and 2015. Your biggest problem while the hawks were busy winning cups on their way to being the best team of the decade was whine about McD’s marketing, about how the media portrayed the team and how much you detested Patrick Sharp even going as far as making unsubstantiated claims he messed around with certain women and was hated by certain teammates. You obviously know hockey but it’s hard to make a connection with a Hawk fan who got more satisfaction from criticizing three championship teams then showing he was happy they were so successful.
For the record none of D, Elbows, Mohel and myself fully agree on everything. I like Lehner, I don’t mind Smith and I am alone in believing the core should have been traded three years ago and a rebuild started. - paulr

banana eater comes out as.... well... there you go. Just change ing to er - BINGO!
Would you favor Gardner moved for anything and give Bean a real opportunity....be patient, some sheltered minutes even
And would you include TVR in a two for one trade, Carolina giving two for one? Teams need defensemen, albeit descent third pair player like TVR
I wonder if J Staahl becomes too expensive for Carolina for his slot |

Rules should be followed. If you can't abide by the rules, you should either (1) leave, or (2) lobby to have the rule changed. Not following the rules and/or complaining about them is not an acceptable option.

Well, Thornton is an older, slower, hairier version of Kampf at this point, so there is that... |

If bowman uses the cap space (this isn’t free money we would be over the cap legally) all of the bonus money earned by players this year get pushed into next years cap. There won’t be anything done unless a big contract like say saad or Maata is moved for a bad 1 year deal or something like gus front a player or picks.
The relief money would only be worth using if they had a legit cup shot like in 2013 - Abadseed
How many incentive players do the Hawks have that are on track to meet their objective(s)?

I hope you are not saying the Hawks pick him up. Three more years at $4M is a hard pill to swallow for a slightly better Gus. |

I'd dump TVR for free. He (frank)ing blows.
At this point Canes should be looking to add a defenseman, not trade any way (except for TVR) |

Edmundson and TVR are both going to be UFA, I doubt the canes re-sign both, so Bean will get his chance. Besides, Hawks (or SB) wouldn't be looking for a Dman. consider what we have now;
Keith, Seabs (not going to be traded out)
Maatta, DeHaan, Murphy (these are SBs "pets", I doubt he trades them)
Boqvist, Mitchell, Beaudin, Gilbert (young guys that shouldn't be traded, maybe Gilbert)
Seeler, Koko
IF Lehner HAS to be traded to Canes, realisticly, Canes will be shipping one of Reimer/Mrazek back, and probably a 2nd rounder (conditional to 1st rounder). Give them Gus if they ask

I'm not sure what the actual targets are, but Kubalik is probably the only one close. Strome has the biggest award ($2.5M) but if he didn't get it last year, he won't this year unless he plays at almost a point per game for the rest of the year. |

The time is now!!!
For what? Same as it always should be near trade deadline, is there a player available that you think will improve your team, ideally for the long-term. I have to disagree with others that the Cap space is only good for this year. Reality is that it gives us an opportunity to acquire players and use the off season to resolve the Cap issues for the following year. The more assets of value you have the better off you are. We should be looking for speed and the ability to play defense. Last this year we have two Goalies that play different styles and one of the challenges night after night who's in goal. Crawford likes to move the puck, is good down low, but is susceptible to high on the short side. Lehner likes to block shots, which creates rebounds, is weaker on cross ice plays and gets out of position and last he has never been successful as the guy. Be smart and try and leave emotion out of it, so no more returns of old friends, they were moved for a reason. |

Unfortunately, this is how we ended up with Ville Pokka for Leddy, and Daley and the corpse of Ryan Garbutt for Sharp and Johns (and I didn't even like Johns, but it's about asset management).

If the Hawks traded Lehner to Carolina I'd want one of Gauthier/Kuokkanen and a conditional first depending on if Lehner signs. Feel like that's pretty fair for the quality of goalie Lehner is. |
