Its been a learning curve for Hughes, but I am far from writing the kid off as a bust. As for Nico, I still consider him the next Bergeron, and love the contract he is on. But I get ya, they aren't McJesus. - bikeguy99
not writing him off as a bust, but he was never projected to be a franchise guy. I think it's safe to assume he's a top 6 guy. |

Idk about that. He was pretty hyped up. Still wouldn't surprise me if down the road he becomes the first Devil to have a 100 point season. |

Idk about this, you can say he wasnt projected to be a "franchise guy" per se, but he was absolutely projected and hyped up to be a future 1C and a 90-100 point upside. Which i still think he will be, hes still 18 years old and wont even be 19 until next season. |

Granted we don't have anyone who can finish his plays, now or in the pipeline and he isn't a big goal scorer, it will be interesting to see where he will be |

He didn’t come in and immediately take over the league on a garbage team. He’s a bust |

Sadly thats how some people think nowadays unfortunately. Since McDavid and Matthews lit it up in their first year, its expected to be the norm now from every top pick i guess |

Somewhat of an update, but Dreger tonight on TSNs Insider trading mentioned that he expects Fitzgerald to be very busy leading up the deadline, saying that he expects Vatanen to be traded, and Simmonds has interest from Vancouver depending on Ferlands health. Also that Greene will be shopped. And lastly mentioned that Fitz had been having a lot of interest on contract players, particularly Palmieri and Coleman.
So not really anything new, but this is one of the first times the big boy insiders have mentioned the guys that arent pending UFAs, outside of Lebrun after the Shero firing saying that Ray was telling teams he wasnt interested in trading Palms
EDIT: Also Dreger mentioned on the Ray and Dregs podcast that Fitzy absolutely has "autonomy" to make decisions and trades that he needs to, and said he expects him to be "as busy as the the busiest gm" leading up to, AND on deadline day. |

also, if they miss the playoffs they're going to have some of the worst odds to winning the lottery. - Pomegrant
But if they keep Hall they'll have the best odds. |

Really not a fan of the Shero firing. Trading 27/28yr old hard working 25-30 goal scorers I think is a mistake. Gotta have some nhlers to lead these kids. |
