adjusted for accuracy.

Thornton would get between 2 to 5 minutes of ice-time a game

- PatC80

It's lunacy.

Thornton has been on San Jose's #2 PP unit this year put on the ice predominantly with Karlsson, Burns, Meier and Marleau/Kane.

Has has managed to produce 1 goal and 4 assists in 102 minutes of Power Play time. He is scoring at a PP rate of 2.94pts/60.

Spezza, in 52 minutes of PP time has 2 goals and 5 assists. You know. 8.1pts/60.

Thornton may not be DONE, but out of 336 players who have more than 40 minutes of Power Play time this year, There are 232 better, and 103 worse, so he's in the lower half of the league.

We can do better.

Joe Thornton has 5 power play points in 103:00 minutes of powerplay time this year.

Jason Spezza has 7 powerplay points in 50:35 minutes of powerplay time this year.

Thorton would have more if it wasnt for Dubas and Nylander

It isnt easily the best in the NHL. It's around top 5 which is good enough.

I know you'll say it's the best since Keefe took over, blah blah. Save your time..

Boston, Tampa, Edmonton and Caps are all still better.

- LeafGuy89

Uh, no. Leafs are the best. We know it's only because of that lunatic who was coach.

Starting to sound like getting rid of Spezza and replacing him with Thornton is a bad idea..

I'm legit trying to understand Max's argument for bringing in Thornton... I can't, I just can't..
Depth would be my only guess? Even then,

Matthews, Tavares, Spezza, Engvall, Kerfoot and Gauthier are already here.. Heck, even Nylander takes some o-zone faceoffs..

As it stands.

If Muzzin signs 5-6 million and cap goes up 2 million.

The 4th line is kept to 3 million total the Leafs will have 3-4 million in cap space.

You subtract Kap/Johnnson/Kerfoot cap hits that goes to 6.5-8 million to add a defender.

Spezza has been really good... inspite of a challenged start which is on Babcock imo.

it would be great "optically" if Dubas were to offer Spezza a contract for next year now... that would send a great message to both Spezza and the team broadly.

Look at this guy, minimum contract, contributes every night.

He looks to me like he is genuinely having fun...

- BorjeFan4Ever

I read somewhere that Spezza is happy in Toronto and that it would be his last stop.

I wouldn't trade Micky I bet he will be cheap the next two years.

I'd trade one of the trio forwards that get mentioned all the time plus Dermott. Add a prospect if it gets you the right guy.

I'd also like the Leafs to trade for Goodrow assuming he wouldn't cost a whole lot.

Mikheyev . . . I'd put him around where Engvall is. I think you bridge him for a couple and see how he does. Mikheyev has 8 goals, and Engvall has 7, and they have played with different opportunities in front of them.

Dermott. . .that's a tough one. I went into the year thinking we'd be lucky to get him on a 3x$3.2m bridge deal. Now I'm starting to think I like him closer to the Holl mark of 3x$2m, so maybe 3x$2.5m.

I think Dermott is an add in any trade for a D with term.

Most teams want a young d to help fill the hole they just made.

Im happy with Kerfoot.

I see Dubie trying to upgrade the D a bit, maybe bring in another bottom 6 grit guy with talent and if he cant make a trade that works long term, no trades will occur.

Unless Reilly will be out for playoffs.....then he makes a trade he otherwise wouldnt.

Sorry, I meant $$ on their next contracts? Mikky ~ 2x2? ...Dermott maybe similar?

And I agree on the rest. I think the blue print is one of the K/J/K crew plus Dermott out with an upgrade on D coming back.

Probably around there....it is hard for the Leafs to bet on Mikky after such a serious injury.

And yeah I like Dermott he has potential but I am liking the Sandin/Lil pairing for the 3rd pairing next year. Not sure where Dermott fits unless Muzzin plans on wanting too much $.
