Thank god. I was so afraid of those offersheets - RogerRoeper
exactly...
now what is Dreger going to spew about... I don't think there's a single other team in the NHL that has upcoming RFAs... only the Leafs.
its almost like there will be no need for Dreger at all (we can only hope) |

Dreger is getting so bad even his co-hosts are calling him out. Last year was good for him, he only spoke offersheets and we never had to hear his opinion on hockey. This year, yikes. |

And I think Kappy brings you back the most so I trade him first but if some team values Johnnson or Kerfoot more or the same then (frank) ya.
It’s the cheap found wallet line. - Santo_44
I agree that its likely Kapanen brings the greatest return - however, of those three, he's the one I'd want to lose the least. I see Johnsson and Kerfoot as more or less interchangeable...
and at this point Spezza is clearly a better 3rd line center option than Kerfoot. Also related I think Engvall is a much better winger than he is a center. Therefore - if moving someone for defensive help, and the respective salaries/CAP hits being more or less the same... I move (in order) Kerfoot, Johnsson then Kapanen.
both Engvall and Mikheyev are capable of playing LW or RW... so the previous concern about depth on the LW is somewhat alleviated.
time for Dubie to get busy dealing... before the others do.
you would think Dubas should be able to land a decent defender for a package based around Kerfoot/Johnsson + Dermott or Barrie

actually, that's not even original...
he's channeling late 70s Dave Hodge... but only from a hair perspective. |

didn't read above, Dubas overpaid by 0.01M$ - BorjeFan4Ever
Yup, no matter how much Engvall insisted.. Dubas wouldn't go lower than $1.25M per |

Was the GOAT a healthy scratch last night?
With this signing of Engvall, I can see that Gauthier is on his way out or possibly kept for the expansion draft. |

yes, Mikheyev and Engvall are here to stay hopefully, same for Kapanen.
Hyman Marner 1st line wingers, seems Nylander is there to stay as well (although I still feel Leafs would be better off trading him this off-season).
??/Nylander - Matthews - Marner
Hyman - Tavares - Mikheyev
Engvall - ?? - Kapanen
Spezza - Gauthier - Timashov
13th: Korshkov
That would be my preferred lineup for next season - with Kerfoot, Bracco and Johnsson all traded.
Leafs need a #3C.
And ideally another winger instead of Nylander to play with Matthews and Marner.
(what if Leafs can get Hall to sign for 7years @8.5mln? you'd have to trade Nylander then for sure for a D - and have the upgrade for 1.6mln AAV extra). |

Are you serious? That would be a terrible move. He's so slow and finished. Kerfoot is better at this point.
REmember how bad Patrick Marleau looked in the playoffs last year? And he still has decent speed.

I think you don't understand hockey and what great passing skills Thornton still has.
Even if he only plays 8-10mins a night, with half of that on the PP - he could make the difference between a win and a loss in a playoffs series.
(would be poetic for Joe Thornton to help the Leafs win in a playoffs series vs the Bruins ) |

I understand his horrible lack of foot speed which will bring down the entire line.
This idea he can fit in as a 3rd line C is not a wise one. He's done.
You often bring up guys who were really good 5+ years ago like they still play that way. You said you'd take Benn over Nylander now.
