He’d probably get a team suspension...but who is going to say no to a day off work?
- Santo_44

Right? Win-win!

You know . . .unless you're Marchand.

Pay someone a million dollars to skate for 5 minutes total in one game and basically (frank) him up and get a suspension for the remainder of the playoffs?

What's this about Marchand being smoked?

Being fair - they were discussing it in the intermission yesterday, and while they were expressing their outrage and Colby Armstrong (who clearly does not like Chara) was saying that it was maybe suspendable, Friedman immediately winced and said, 'That's not a suspendable hit', and then conceded that it was likely a $5k fine. And here we are.

Should it be a suspendable offense? I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be; it's not a "careless use of the stick", it's a "deliberate use of the stick to cause bodily harm". But by the current NHL DOPS standards it isn't.

It’s intent to injure.

the guy to target is Pastrnak.... no disrespect to Marchand... but he's expecting and anticipating all the time. Pastrnak wouldn't.

and it can't be overt... a low-bridge taking out the knee(s)... which would impact his ability to skate.

so what if a guy has a fat lip or cut on his eyebrow? those don't matter

A much uglier orange.

I was watching tykes play 3 mini games across the ice with blue pucks last weekend. I can’t believe people were opposed to it. Kids were skating, passing, getting touches. So much better than full ice.

You dont like when 1 kid has the puck all game and scores 25x?

I agree, but when you look at the way DOPS interprets intent to injure, they are awfully loose.

My nephew was that kid.

Coach: you need to pass the puck to your teammates

Kid: why?

Our league has a 3-goal per game maximum in house league. I think it is franking brilliant.

In IP it was 1/2 ice a few years ago, oldest says he wants to try nets for a fun day game. 1 kid ( now plays for AAA Ottawa Titans ) was head faking kids going around them both ways (5-6 years old ) and sniping it bar dowm....scored about 15-20 goals in about 10 mins. My kids comes off the ice and slams down his blocker and says " im never pkaying nets again" awesome day for me

Interesting from an poll From NHL agents on the Athletic.

One question was which team is the most likely to be on a no trade clause?

12 picked Winnipeg
11 picked Ottawa
7 Edmonton
4 Buffalo

One agent said “Florida all the way they treat their players like poop.”

But lol Ottawa and the Peg

- Santo_44

this doesn't surprise me one bit. In all honestly, I would have put Edmonton and Buffalo higher than Ottawa, but that's a pretty solid top 4.

Buffalo is a poophole that gets pretty damn cold in the winter. But has some suburbs that are tolerable. Among American NHL cities it's probably the closest parallel to Winnipeg.

Edmonton, ditto, cold and and an unimpressive city (not disgusting like Buffalo and Winnipeg), it has a few redeeming features. It has some pretty good surroundings if you're into outdoor activities.

Ottawa is actually a decent city, but boring as hell, and has the nasty cold factor. Senators management and ownership gives them a bump up the list.

Winnipeg is a crappy city, filled with crappy little 70s bungalows through half the city, is run down, gets wickedly cold almost half the year., and is littered with certain smoking crack and huffing gasoline on the streets and in the parks at night. It truly has no redeeming features. None, zero, zilch. I am baffled why anyone would live there. If I didn't have a car and couldn't afford a bus ticket I would literally walk away until I made it to a decent city. It is a well deserved number 1 on the list, and if there the best team in the league, and could win the next 10 cups, they'd still be number 1.

I think that could easily be a couple of games. A deliberate cross check to the chin? Yeah, if that doesn't get reviewed something is wrong.

Chara goes on to say he embellished? Buddy, I don't care if he embellished or not, when you cross check someone in the face, you should be gone. Not complicated.

You want more guys like him and then go on to suggest trading Kerfoot. Kerfoot has everything Engvall has except maybe the large body but with a higher scoring touch. Why trade him then?
- Aaron_85

Kerfoot is terrible for the Leafs for many reasons.

1st of all, he's another small player who plays a soft game. Leafs have too many of those types of players.

2nd, his skill game isn't producing results without PP time (as I predicted).

3rd, too much money for too little production and zero intangibles.

4th, advertised as a C but he sucks at C so he's not really a C.

5th, he holds enough "potential" value that he can help bring back help on D, which is what they need more of. Leafs have small, skilled players they can replace Kerfoot with at 1/3rd of the cost.

Connor Brown also had a really good season, so yeah, not betting on Robertson yet either. Excited to watch him develop, yes, but he's not a lock to do anything yet.
- gravyface

connor brown has 10 goals and 35 points in 57 games for the sens this season at a 2.1 cap hit.
