got a 5K fine for that finally
- zazzle

Chara makes $2 million this year.

In terms of simple percentages, it’s like a $250 fine for someone making $100,000.

Marner viciously slashing Chara's size 17 feet... Chara clubbing Marner over the head with his original oak Sherwood 5030

Marner gets suspension for intent to injure

- BorjeFan4Ever

All I know is Tavares better keep from throwing his face at Chara's fist if we are to win the round.

No love for gallagher but the department of player safety is a joke.

How it is not a suspension is beyond me..

But then, I remembered;

When Pronger retired, the NHL anointed Chara as the defenceman free to crosscheck.

FFS, even Pronger laughs at how ludicrous it is.

One other thing I find funny: have you ever seen an NHL player be called for two crosschecks or two slashes?

Once the ref’s arm goes up, you can do whatever the hell you want, because in the history of the game there has never been a “two minutes for cross checking plus an additional two minutes for cross checking” call.

Ever.

Yes, but flip that puck over the glass just once...............

No, but they can. In fact they can call subsequent minors as many times as there are infractions. But they don't.

A much uglier orange.

I was watching tykes play 3 mini games across the ice with blue pucks last weekend. I can’t believe people were opposed to it. Kids were skating, passing, getting touches. So much better than full ice.

Good... now he won't be able to get those Guns'N'Roses first row tickets he was eyeing.
- TheMussel

I decided not to get any as the seating and sound will be crap at the Rogers center.

Pronger used to drill guys three or four times after the arm went up. He knew he was only getting two minutes.

They really need to up that fine.

They should be able to fine them up to a games worth of their cap hit.

So 25K for Chara. Basically it’s a suspension in salary but they can still play.

For 250$? I’m cross checking my annoying co worker in the face

exactly... get them used to close quarter scrums.. and don't put stupid no contact nonsense in play... they are little kids ...let them figure it out on their own - they are covered head to toe in equipment (aka the michelin man) anyway..

making the pucks "proportionate" to their strength is best idea

then for serious fun (for the adults) two or three pucks on the ice at the same time

If Tampa does catch Boston, I know some guys don't like this, but so far the current strategy hasn't worked to stop the B's bullpoop, so I would grab another tough guy. Even just a pure goon who can go ahead and get suspended. Leafs have a the benefit of not needing 3rd and 4th line production. Clifford will help a lot, but just one more total face puncher to finally send the message to those bumholes.

My favourite part about playing the Bruins yet again, is going to be when Nylander smashes his face into Chara's crosscheck and the refs call quincies. Ha ha, stupid NHL has no idea what the Leafs are going to get away with.

Pay someone a million dollars to skate for 5 minutes total in one game and basically (frank) him up and get a suspension for the remainder of the playoffs?

I'm pretty sure Chara can cross check Marchand in the face for free because he's on his own team.

You should cite this reference when you cross check your annoying co-worker in the face.

You're welcome.

The only thing I give Pronger is most of his career was pre-lockout when there were lots of guys doing that stuff.

I'd happily do it for free. Take a few runs at rat face while I'm at it.

Interesting from an poll From NHL agents on the Athletic.

One question was which team is the most likely to be on a no trade clause?

12 picked Winnipeg
11 picked Ottawa
7 Edmonton
4 Buffalo

One agent said “Florida all the way they treat their players like poop.”

But lol Ottawa and the Peg

Being fair - they were discussing it in the intermission yesterday, and while they were expressing their outrage and Colby Armstrong (who clearly does not like Chara) was saying that it was maybe suspendable, Friedman immediately winced and said, 'That's not a suspendable hit', and then conceded that it was likely a $5k fine. And here we are.

Should it be a suspendable offense? I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be; it's not a "careless use of the stick", it's a "deliberate use of the stick to cause bodily harm". But by the current NHL DOPS standards it isn't.

He’d probably get a team suspension...but who is going to say no to a day off work?
