he's already the worst GM in the league for not being able to exert his absolute will on every single other GM with no compromise

Sounds kinda rapey.

For all we know, Robertson could make the NHL next year. 850k cap hit.

Robertson is about the same size and will be the same age (19) as DeBrincat.

Robertson-Tavares-Nylander as a second line?

Engvall-Kerfoot-Mikheyev as a third line?

But of course, cap hell. So... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

- Steven_Seagull

You're dreaming.

DeBrincat had 3 straight 50-65 goal, 100-120 point seasons in the OHL, plus three great playoff runs.

Robertson is finally having ONE good OHL season.

They're not on the same level.

Probably not. But debrincat also had the benefit of playing with mcdavid and strome

McDavid for 1 year and the other 2 years he outperformed Strome and now we kind of see who was carrying who given how their NHL careers have turned out so far.

I know people love to get overly excited about prospects but Robertson has had one good OHL season so far and he's still terribly undersized for the NHL. The number of players his size in the NHL is incredibly small and they're all supremely more talented and skillful. The idea he's going to make the NHL, at that size, at 19, is a long shot at best.

He outperformed strome? Strome was 2nd behind mcdavid the first season, led the team in points the first eeason mcdavid wasnt there which is more then debrincat, then had 75 points in 35 gp vs debrincats 127 in 63. Which is a higher ppg. And as blackhawks, strome has pretty much produced at the same pace as debrincat.

Lol Robertson is already bigger and heavier than debrincat, and he's currently on pace to have a season where he scores more goals than games played..... But yeah sure he's not nearly big enough or skilled enough

Because you can't have both. Can't add an 11 million dollar player and keep all the other cap hits.

nylander is now living up to his contract, at least for this season. would rather move johnsson and kapanen or kerfoot over nylander. if it's true there is a serious issue between kap and matthews then kap has to go, but if it can be rectified between them would prefer to keep kap and move johnsson and kerfoot.

Wow. I actually agree with most of this post lol. Nylander is now offering good value for his caphit. If we can avoid trading him in order to get the players we need, and can instead simply move out guys like Kap, Johnson, or Kerfoot, then great.

I've seen so many players score 50 and get 100+ pts in the CHL, only go on and fizzle out or do nothing afterwards. My hometown. WHL Medicine Hat Tigers. Did you know that Lupul and Emersen Etem were studs in junior? Curtis Valk was a great junior player. Curtis who? There's a missing intangible that makes a player an NHL player. I don't know what it is, but not every junior stud makes it, and some pluggers make it big. We shouldn't be creaming our pants dreaming of Robertson making the Leafs before the age of 22, or ever.

Killer 3rd line if we could play them all at the same time. 🤓

I think it is a great signing and perhaps instead of moving or losing Goat out of the equation, might be more move Kerfoot.. If Engvall can handle the center position, move him there and open up a spot on the wing for some of the others. I think that could be a better move.

Overall we have some good depth prospects and such still and can maybe move some for picks and or guys who can just add to the core going into next year.

Course depends on what happens and who is here after TD comin up too.

Robertson plays with who thou? Thats right no one. He absolutely does everything himself. Half the time it seems he primary and secondary assists his own goals ffs. Debrincat was on a stacked Erie team. Robertson is 2 inches taller at 18 then the Cat is now at 22. So I kinda guess the height myth can be thrown out the window. I've seen both play a ton and IMO Robertson looks to be the better player at the same age 17-18. But like you said can he bring it to the NHL level like Debrincat did. I'll guess we will have to see.

Robertson is a feel good story for some Leaf fans. He was taken in the 2nd round. He was 4 days from being drafted this year instead of last. Some scouts are saying he'd go top 5 if he was. This is why some of us are optimistic and are rooting for him. Do not take this away from us...
