Period turned at about 10 minutes - Van won the second half.

It’s like the Hawks only have so many minutes of good play in them - and it’s no where near as many as are needed to win most games. They were not good the second half of the period, other than the disallowed goal.

Maatta backing away and Special K chasing left nothing but open ice. They could have played a game of chess before anyone get close to both Canucks.

He certainly did. He stood in the crease while the puck was still in play. The puck basically went right under him.

Great challenge Colliton ????
Idiocy at its finest. This guy is pathetic.

- Hawkytalk

Ya that was a stupid challenge ,has he not been paying attention on how the calls have been going of late against the HAWKS . No way you take that chance .
I like he has Kubilk on the 1st PP but not on the point .And Smith is decent 4th liner ,but top PP HAWKS must have some other players with a little more offensive instinct not named DBC . Put Gus on the point with Boqvist and Kubs on the wing with Toews and Kane .. Load the hell up

Good challenge - take a chance - need to do something aggressive to change the way things are going.
- StLBravesFan

Seeler did something aggressive last game with his fight to show aggressive play.... how'd that work out ??

if SB can re-sign Caggs, Strome and Kubalik at around 8-8.5m total, then suddenly the cap will be more manageable.

let Gus walk. Koko should be re-sign no more than 950k, if re-sign.

it will come down to getting rid of Smith+Shaw contracts or Saad's contract to open a caproom for a goalie.
if somehow, a team is willing to give up a pick for Smith AND Shaw retires (LTIR), then there is room for Saad's caphit and also that will give about 7-8mil (depending on the rise of the cap) for a goalie, Lehner?

the question is, do you want the same roster next year as this year? minus Smith, Shaw, Gus and probably either Lehner or CC -but with Seabs and DeHaan

- squishy24

Smith's buy out would be $1.083,333 for 2 years. Not bad.
BUT, he's apparently so good that he's on the first PP Unit now - I was hoping my eyes were deceiving me but I checked the stats.

Hawks not catching many breaks from the refs lately. Pretty much outplayed the Nucks so the Hawks have to keep playing the same and let's see what happens.

after being fantastic been a problem the last 3 or 4 games...esp when they suck on the pp and are having trouble scoring 5v5.

Imagine how good this team would be with Kubalik and Caggiula playing with Dach on line 3 next year ??? Need 2 top 6 forwards then.

So here's the thing.... Last year Bowman came out and basically said "We fired Joel because we believe in this roster and believe the team is good enough to make the playoffs and then anything can happen".

We all know how last year played out.

This year comes around and Bowman says basically the same thing. "We upgraded the team with our off-season acquisitions and believe this group is good enough to" blah blah blah. Same poop different season.

So...either Bowman and co truly know this team isn't good enough and are just lying to our faces, or they actually believe this team is good enough to win something... either way, they can (frank) right off.

If Stan is held to the standard that HE set the last two years, he should be fired as soon as the Hawks are officially out of the playoffs.

Not only do the Hawks suck again, but Rockford sucks again and the organizational depth is about 2 players away from being absolute ass.

The problem is this: IF the organization knows this team isn't good enough (which they should), the Hawks should not be selling. Bowman shouldn't be allowed to touch the roster and should be ushered out of the building as soon as they're officially out of contention. I don't trust him to sell the team bus let alone any of the players.

BUT...

If Bowman and co really believe this team can compete, then go make some aquisitions. But if they do and the team doesn't vastly improve, that should be the final nail for Stan.

Remember he's the one who set the bar at playoffs.

If this team continues to play like garbage, hopefully Rocky has the stones to hold his front office accountable.

They are so slow coming out of their own end and once they set up they are very predictable.

Edit: and they tend to really like low probability passes.

If that had been a hawk hit it would have been called interference.

And another reason this team shouldn't be considered anything more than dogpoop and why both Bowman/Colliton should be fired the second they're eliminated from the playoffs.. The Hawks are 13-27 in games where Kane doesn't have a multi point night.

Read that again....

In games where Kane has only 1 point or 0 points, the Hawks are 13-27.

26 out of a possible 80 points...

This team is being completely masked by Kane and Crawford/Lehner.

It was not interference, the puck was there, but he was hit clearly from behind. I guess it's no call because it's not along the boards? Hawks got a break on the missed off sides call, but not able to take advantage.
