Getting scored on by a team with four defensemen on the ice is the most Devils thing to happen this season. |

Let's trade Palmieri...No let's get a goaltender to go with Blackwood and get rid of some of these turds on defense |

Going to the Rock Thursday. Can’t wait. Because once that’s over I’m not going back.
Although I’ll miss going to Hobby’s. The Pastrami!
Vegetarian options. Something for everyone! |

Well your first sentence is already wrong. Lebrun has said multiple times since the firing that Shero was telling teams he had no interest in trading Palmieri. And we arent getting Rantanen, ever. What. - vlongo4419
That was a rough one |

If only. By the time those extensions kick in, they'd be in their 30's, so to assume it secures our future is not a certainty. Our future is Hughes/Hisch/Boq/Smith/Bahl/Blackwood........As good as Palms and Coleman are today, you can't bank on them to be allstars in for the duration of any extension. - bikeguy99
Umm, did you read my whole post, I am all in on getting max value for them now to build for future. |

Who? Evan Comier? Akira Schmid?
I'm fine with giving whomever some NHL starts instead of Domingue; but I don't think anyone other then Gill Senn in the Bing is any good.
Was watching the Rangers goalie (Shesterkin) last night and he's pretty damn impressive. We don't have anyone like that. Blackwood is a year younger and seems more athletic but Shesterkin is just so technically sound. His reaction times look remarkable and his rebound control is great. |

still go back and forth with trading Vatanen. More teams are losing dmen, and we'd definitely get a nice return.. but our defense will be that much worse next year without him. We can sign a UFA to replace him, and be just as bad this year next year.. ...get another top pick.. and THEN in 2022 push for greatness! Nico and Hughes will be ready, this year's top 5 will have a season under his belt.. 2022! only 2 more years. Hard to believe it would be 10 years since we went to the Finals in 2 seasons. |

Getting Simmonds was ok, the leadership/mentoring thing.
Getting PK was a bad move.
I think Shero was pressured into taking the next step when we sould have still be stockpiling assets.
Im ok with a longer rebuild if its done right. Trading Vats and Palms would bring us nice assets that are needed to build. Sucks to lose them, but its kind of like a must in our situation.
If we can get a top 3 pick (whoever they get will be a homerun) plus AZs pick. This could be another huge offseason for us.
I'd like someone like Hitchock as coach too. Someone will discipline.
How many times have devils given up a goal so quick out of the gate in all 3 periods. Thats a lack of being prepared and focus. Hitch would change that. |

Hitch was a nightmare to many players. He is part of the dinosour age, and absolutely has babcock-esque stories of mental abuse on rookies. Just a matter of time before that comes out.
As for Shero, he did stockpile assets. That yotes trade brought in a top D prospect, and Merkley and Schnarr have been very impressive thus far. He also brought in Simmonds on a low risk option that could see him moved as a rental. And people seem to forget that Gusev is quietly putting up almost 1ppg since Hall's departure. Shero convinced him to sign in Jersey, and weather he keeps putting up points for the devs, or is also flipped for picks, it was a HUGE win for Ray.
As for Vats/Coleman, if traded we could be looking at more 1st round selections........I think the Jets would be a great landing spot for Vats, and a condition on the trade if re-signed would be a nice bonus, as the Jets would be likely want to retain him. Coleman/Greene would be a nice duo to help the Leafs too. But only time will tell. |

I don't know how much leadership of mentoring Simmonds is doing but he doesn't even seem that gritty anymore. Signing him didn't hurt us but I don't think it's helped much.
PK might be a disappointment but we didn't give up much real value for him and just took on his huge salary. We've got tons of cap space so it's not like that's hurting us; and he's still eating top line minutes.
I think the real issue with Ray is he made some great moves but then stopped. Lots of good players were still available (like Gardiner) and we sort of said, hey that's enough. I'd guess its because ownership has a budget since we've been perennially cheap since they got here.
The real issues now is we have an interim coach and interim GM and no (frank)ing plan or organizational directions. I'm fine selling off Palms and Coleman but the return needs to be outstanding or there is no reason to do it. Everyone poops a muffin when guys get near 30 now but that's frankly stupid. You need a lot of deep talent to compete and if that means having some older player in the mix it's fine.

I was saying this to highlight how bad I think Domingue is rather than a glowing referral of Comier or Akira Schmid, I know both are not NHL worthy, but that's the point I am making about Domingue, neither is he, but I know we all know that anyway. |

Shesty athletically similar to quick early in his career, but has better positioning. His biggest strength is handling the puck which is huge considering how bad hank was at that. As I am sure you know since Marty was the best to ever do it. |

Igor is a monster... in a good way for you guys. Lot of goalies get hyped but I really think the guy is amazing. It's got to feel good to have the next generation of goalie in the system. We are hopeful with Blackwood but jury is still out. |

Blackwood is a good one, he's playing behind a garbage team and is still playing well all things considered. |

Agreed. Just not sure how good he is. Every time I’m sold he has a stinker and every time he has a stinker he has a few great games. The garbage D makes it harder to judge because he gets hung out to dry often. |

The thing is, Marty put up some duds over the years but the defense was so good in front of him it covered up the bad ones. The same is going to happen for Blackwood too, but we already know he can make big time saves and steal games. I have a lot of confidence in him. |
