This team really shouldn't be doing much if NP has a realistic shot at coming back.

I can’t imagine him coming back this year

Montreal’s going to drop out from this thing and when they do you get fletch on the horn and ask them what their price for weise is

Morin wasn't going to be a legit NHL player imo regardless of injuries. You can debate it all you want. Picking him 11th was a reach any way you slice it.

And it turns out even if Patrick didn't have the migraines you can argue he would have been the least productive player taken in the top 5.

- PLindbergh31

Yes, you can argue/make up all kind of things.

The fact is the Flyers still got a lot of productive players with their first round picks this decade, and all of them are still with the organization. Which is rare.

The Caps are still 8 points ahead of the wildcard teams, but they are in danger of losing the top Metro seed to the Pens.
- Feanor

I hadn't been tracking the top two spots in the div for a while, but while the caps and pens have games in hand, they aren't completely out of reach for us if we stay hot.

Fletcher made getting rid of Weise a priority, lol. He traded him and Folin for two AHL guys, one of whom he bought out.

Well, 2 full seasons before the age of 20 is the best way to measure what a player's future will be like.

Man, those Joe Thornton and Aleksander Barkov guys sure turned out to be busts.

I would have moved Ghost last summer. What strengths he has, are very high. What weaknesses he has are very low. Hayes has been very good for us, I’m pleasantly surprised most nights. However, I would rather have Kadri or any other cheaper second or third line center. It’s not a knock on Hayes, I just feel like we blew an opportunity.
- SuperSchennBros

I don't know man... I'm the one that was on here pushing for the Flyers to move Ghost at last year's deadline, and again this past summer. Preeetttty sure you were one of the regulars on here that essentially ran me off the board by telling me how stupid of an idea that was. "You don't trade a guy when his value is at it's lowest". That's what I was told then. Well, it appears it has indeed gotten lower.

I keep seeing posts now to move him as part of a deal to improve the team for the playoff push. IMO the Flyers are not sniffing any type of return that substantially improves this team with Ghost as the centerpiece of a package. I still don't think he's worthless, but I don't think he's bringing back anything that even marginally improves this year's team. Might as well hold on to him for depth at this point.

I'll be ecstatic if Patrick can resume his career and become the best player from the top 5. What do you think the odds of that are?

I don't know. I've only seen 2 seasons of him, both of them interrupted by injury. But I always thought that he'd be better than Hischier, but with a big curve (much like Coots). Makar and Heiskanen are hard to judge since they're not forwards.

Just saying that 2 seasons before the age of 21 isn't the best way to judge what a player's whole career will be like. Do you disagree?

Just curious about what your thoughts are on Kakko and Hughes being on pace for right around 30 points? You were acting like they were both going to have much higher totals before the season started.

Who would have guessed it's hard to be an 18 year old breaking into the NHL?

I think if the Devils had it to do over again, Hughes wouldn't have started in the NHL. He's not physically ready to play NHL hockey.

2017 should still be a strong draft for the Flyers. Frost, Ustimenko, Cates, Sushko, Lyksell and Kalynuk are all looking like good picks. Ratcliffe still has huge upside. They actually can afford to have NP fall short of expectations.

And 2013, Morin was a moster reach, but Hagg turned out to fill the exact same role. Having Max "Bobby Clarke Superfan" Domi on the Flyers would have been cool, tho.

Just about everyone including you would have lost their mind if the Flyers didnt take NoPa 2nd in that draft.

I know, hindsight is a powerful thing.

As for Morin I am pretty sure that everyone thought he was a stretch where they took him and to this point he hasn't delivered even on being a stretch due to injury.

Was a good class. Lot of strong players taken after Morin.
