The damage Ron Hextall did to this franchise is unconscionable!
Sanheim over Pastrnak in 2014
Patrick over Makar in 2017
Signing JVR and Voracek to cap strapping long term contracts!
Plus all the stuff he did in the front office and all his narrow minded crazy ideas!
That is where the roots of the problem with this team began!

Agreed. No reason for the flat play in the first period. It's great that they battles back and took over the game in the final two periods but there are no moral victories in the NHL. Points are being squandered in a tight playoff race.

Watched the replay a couple of times. A total clusterf* of a goal. Pitlick tries an absurd sliding play to get in the way of Barzal who goes elsewhere. Then Barzal turnstiles Myers who just lets him go so that he has all kinds of room back around the net.
Twice Hayes looks behind him to see where his point guy is. JVR does the JVR thing - skakes a little back and forth as he does in the defensive zone. Never looks back at his man. Probably screens Elliot a little who is totally blameless. A howitzer that picks a corner.
Way too much time time and space for Barzal and Pulock. Horrible job to have JVR out there for this shift. If that was Raffl (who it should have been) there is probably no goal. |
