That was a half ass effort game. Sloppy all over the ice. And no one shoots - ever. I just don’t understand how you pass when you have a shot in the low slot/crease area. So frustrating.

No goals from Bellows. Trade him.

Larry mentioned Bellows in his article today in terms of Kyle Palmieri.

For Palmeri you would have to consider and most likely add a mid round pick. He’s a good player you could only hope Bellows would develop into a player like him...

It's an interesting idea and not an outlandish type rumor that can never happen.

What’s even more aggravating about last night is we could’ve beaten Tampa. They certainly weren’t playing their best. The problem was we played exponentially worse then they did. Not sure when or if this team will snap out of this funk?

This team under Barry is so much better defensively but I think they still struggle to score enough goals and still play solid defense. Under Cappy and Weigh, only the offense mattered.

They haven’t been so wonderful defensively for a while now. Pelech getting injured hasn’t helped but these are individual mistakes more than the team as a whole. Leddy on the EN goal is a prime example of that. At the blue line with two black sweaters coming at you. He tries some lazy, Ass, pass instead of burying it past them into the corner and getting it deep. Komarov was individually unwatchable last night.

Martin, Cizikas actually played well while Komarov malfunctioned multiple plays or just plain gave the puck away on several occasions. Point is, it always seems to be a couple of individuals that kill momentum. Everyone needs to play within Trotz’s system for it to be effective. That’s not happening.

The offense of course is half assed but there’s no reason for these guys to continue to pass around the perimeter when they have open lanes to shoot. Valisvesky gave up plenty of rebounds last night you think these guys could see that and try to capitalize on it? No. Instead they try to be cute and create the perfect play every, (frank)ing, game, literally, every, (frank)ing, shift. Barzal has been the absolute, without a doubt, biggest perpetrator of this. Couple that with him giving the puck away what feels like every shift I wouldn’t be adverse to him getting benched again. He has been pretty awful lately. Pretty frustrating to watch.

It true about the defense Cpt. I would not mind moving on from Leo. Can we not call up Bardreau? He looked good during his call up earlier. Barzal has struggled Cpt. I would be hesitant to bench him again though. You know my feelings on this roster especially at forward. I still feel this team does not have the right mix. Too many passers and perimeter type players. Barry is a wonderful coach but can only do so much.

To be fair he has filled in pretty well for clutterbuck for the most part on that line but I don’t think there’s anyone(well maybe save for one guy😂) that wouldn’t want to move on from that contract but that’s never happening due to it being terrible. Barzal to me has been pretty bad for a while now. Whatever positive impact he’s having he negates with five or six terrible, unnecessary, give aways. They’ve had points in their last five games before last night. I was hoping maybe it was a trend leaning towards turning it around and you watch a game last night which for an entire period and a half was listless and lacking effort and you have to question the team itself. I think they need a shake up of some sort. Send a message. Just my opinion.

To be fair to Leddy Dobson threw that pass across the blue line with the Bolts right there.

Leo is not going to make or break the season. I'm just not a big fan.
Barzal seems to be struggling this year in fitting into Barry's style. Hopefully he turns it around. This team can be a good regular season team but to me they are not build for a long playoff run. I know they swept the Pens last year. This team is Long overdue for a shakeup. Outside of Barzal, this team has no other players that teams are afraid of I terms of pure talent.

Send him to Toronto ( Johnsson)

His dad grew up behind my cousins house.
My grade 6 friend broke Brian’s Kiwanis scoring record by 15 goals
( guy could bench press 210 lbs at that age and had facial hair)

Stopped growing and went nowhere 😣

Guess I missed him getting handcuffed on a pass but he’s still got to bury it there even if that pass shouldn’t have happened to begin with. I think they all have an issue trying to make the cute play instead of the smart play lately. Barzal did the same thing probably five mins before and Butch was saying Trotz was screaming at him from the bench. Not sure what everyone else’s opinion is but to me these guys defensively have been terrible to watch. They just do stupid crap all over the ice too much lately.

Eh, I didn't think effort was the issue last night. TB took a step back early this year to drill a new, more defensively responsible system into the team, and now it's clicking. It's a phenomenal team talent-wise, and now they have a system in place that doesn't give you a lot of chances to take advantage of mistakes. That makes them pretty much close to what Washington is, and teams like that can squeeze the life out of you offensively. I think maybe the Isles were a little too hesitant at times trying to figure out how to break through, but I don't think they were mailing it in or anything like that.

Once again, the biggest issue was lack of finish: Beau passing off to Nelson early on when he should have shot, and Lee missing Barzal's tap-in finish come immediately to mind. There were more, but in a game that close, that's what it comes down to...one or two missed opportunities. By contrast, Tampa finished off its first real good scoring chance, and that changed the tone of the game. Their second goal, yeah, that was a ridiculous breakdown in coverage. Could have used a big stop there, but they're not getting those lately.

Well they are weak at center.

Meh I don’t agree. They stopped skating for long stretches and pretty much the entire third minus the last couple of mins. They were listless with even Butch seeing/saying it through his alcohol induced haze. Giving up puck possession on unforced plays I don’t attribute to the opposing teams defense.
