Couple things....regardless if we are a buyer or seller at the deadline, Stan has to take advantage of the cap space...if he doesn’t or can’t I will officially be in the dump Stan camp...

Also, any update on #27...crickets so far on his injury....

and
And I sincerely hope they trade both Smith and Lehner.

- Elbows15

Good point you bring up about Smith. He has the most hits on the Hawks and he only played in 47 games. while average less than 12 min TOI. There may be a team that is going to make the playoffs that feel they would like to get a (slow) physical 3rd or 4th line, 200' player, that can play wing or center, win faceoffs and kill penalties and probably only pay a 7th round pick. I am not saying it will happen, but it could happen.

Or he could be part of a package. I wonder what the return would be for a package of Smith & Gus. A 3rd round pick plus a prospect that will never play in the NHL? Andy Greene and a 4th round pick? Too much? Too little?

Why would they not announce it? This is McMedddler we are talking about here.
- Elbows15

Let's say they have an agreement with Lehner for 5 years at $7.5 mil. That tells Crow you are done in Chicago. It might make things uncomfortable in the locker room. Out of respect for Crow they wait until the end of the year to announce the signing. Then they tell Crow, you are great, thank you for your contribution to our organization, we had the opportunity to get much younger, we wish you best for the rest of your career whereever that is.

Boqvist skated on his own today which is a great sign.

Seems like a day-to-day thing. I'm not a Dr. (I just play one on a blog) but looking like he may only miss a game or two.

Playing Smith on your 3rd line wouldn't be good for your playoff hopes. Buying him out at the end of the season saves 2M in cap space and the add year of carrying him is only like 700K ish. Unless they can move his full salary, just buy him out. They can find someone to replace him much cheaper and younger with the illusion of upside. He leads the team in hits because he is getting caved in when he is on the ice. While just one metric, his CorRel% is -6.5.

I think if they signed him, they would announce it. JMO. He is going to test the FA after being all pissy that he had little interest last off-season,

I think youre overvaluing Smith and Gus. But if someone is willing to give up a 3rd rounder for both of them, i'll say take it

The Golden Knights have purchased the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL and pending the expected approval from the AHL’s Board of Governor’s, they will be relocated to Las Vegas/Henderson for the 2020-21 season.

Looks like Wolves and Hogs are not changing hands.

If someone gave up anything for both of them, I will have them packed and on the plane so fast, they won't know what hit them.

Yeah, no. The whole world knew the Senate was never going to take the House impeachment seriously.

Partisans doing partisan things is hardly a story.

- Elbows15

Well, it is when partisans push a key witness - Lt. Col. Vindman and his twin brother - out of their White House NSC positions.

He returns to the Pentagon to be reassigned.

Didn’t take long for the first retaliation to take place, did it?

I was not saying they signed him. Just that one scenario could be that they may have an agreement or understanding. But I agree with you. That scenario is a longshot. More likely he tests the market this summer and signs elsewhere.

It's sir.
Glad I can lighten the mood around here. It's hockey, and none of us are directly responsible for the outcomes. We (for the most part) just want to see them do well.

Well, of course not but did anyone think a small, petty egomaniac would behave any different?

By the same token, installing Pelosi as Speaker was probably one of the dumbest political moves in a long time. There was no way she would be able to look past her own agenda for the good of her party.

Unfortunately, we have to watch it played out on a large stage and cringe that our fellow citizens enable both of these clowns to represent this country.

This team is a ways away from being a serious contender, and I don’t see either as a long term solution. Lehner is going to want too much money for too many years, and Crawford likely isn’t going to be around much longer. That said, I would prefer Crawford on a 1-2 year deal over Lehner for anything more than 3 years.
- Ogilthorpe2

That would be ideal plus the assets we would receive for Lehner on his way out at the TDL. Crawford on a 2 year deal would give us time to develop a goalie at a reasonable Cap cost.
Conversely I fear that a long term costly deal for Lehner plus something similar for Strome would put us into Cap hell for eternity.

Agreed.

I have always been a fan of Anton Khudobin. He will be 34 in May and has a save percentage of .927, .923 and .913 the last 3 years, granted playing for good defensive teams, Dallas and Boston. He will be a UFA after the season.

Maybe Crawford for 1-2 years at $4-4.5M and Khudobin for $2.5M, what he makes now? $6.5-7M in goalies, can share the workload, and if Crow goes down still have a solid goalie.

8 X 8 for Lehner should result in Stan being terminated immediately.
- Ogilthorpe2

Too long and probably too much. 5 x $8 he might do. Stan is not that stupid and doesn't have a gun to his head.

Not sure what Stan is going to do, however we cannot sign Lehner to big $ or more than three years, this team does not need a $7-$9M contract for a goalie. If I get a deal I can’t refuse for Lehner, he’s a goner. Ride Crow and and keep building the forward and defensive group with young prospects and picks. We have some good young players, we have seen some of that talent slowly evolve, maybe we get lucky with a young goalie, we’ll see. If I were to play GM from my chair, Lehner is gone, Smith is gone, and Gus is gone. Sorry Elbows, until we figure out our defense for 20/21, Maatta stays.
