As long as the Rangers don't sign him to Hayes money , they will be fine...
- Alexzanki

I like the Hayes deal. He has been one of the more consistent players for the team. I dont know how he does it especially for such a slow guy but he works magics and manages to get so many breakaways.

The usual mindless just “buy him out” nonsense like teams can just buy out players at will. They already still have Girardi’s buyout they’re dealing with for the next four seasons at 3.6 million. Buying out Staal will save them somewhere around 2.6 million. Do they just buyout everyone else they don’t want so they can sign Kreider, ADA, and Strome? Maybe Kreider will take a hometown discount and sign for 3 million per? 😂

Yeah that’s fairy tale land. Just buy everyone out you don’t want anymore. Easy fix😂😂😂

You’re a complete moron.

- Cptmjl

Whoa there, boys.
Can we compromise and say you are both morons, whether complete or incomplete?

Honestly, I think the realistic take is to lean toward Kreider going. I would love to see him stay, but it would be easy for his price to be out of reach.
You may call him inconsistent, and most would agree. But, even so he is good for 20-30 goals and 40-50 points any year he doesn't lose significant time to injury. And as well as being a huge net-front presence he has the most deflection goals in the league since he came in.
Girardi's buy out drops to $1.1M for the next 3 years after this season, but Shatty's is a ridiculous ~$6M for next season before becoming much more manageable.
Regardless, we have 3 bought out contracts on the ledger. Isn't that the maximum allowable? If so, no one is being bought out.
I would love to see them move Strome while his stock is highest, if it would lead toward signing both Kreider and DeAngelo. Honestly, Kreider leaving would create a much larger hole in our line up than Strome. Chytil is making great strides toward filling the #2C spot. And Tony D is looking like his contract should be a top priority.

No, I agree the cap is taken into account in all of these transactions. But should the Rangers decide they want to sign any or all of the players they can look to create options. They could package Staal with some picks and move him to a team with cap space if they wanted. Bad contracts get moved all the time. It's not that complicated.
- Queenie_5_hole

These are all hypotheticals which would have to be potentially done by next fall. Sure it could happen but let’s not make it sound like some easy feat that they would be able to get all who I mentioned under contract and sign kreider. More than likely it’ll be either one or the other not both and every, single, Ranger fan with half a brain in his or her head knows that.

Well yeah which was my point this entire time. Also, Kreider never scored more than 28 goals in his career. I wasn’t so much knocking the guy as stating a fact that he has been inconsistent his entire career physically and otherwise. With that said he’s playing pretty damn good in a contract year. I honestly forgot about Shattenkirk’s bought our contract which also complicated it further by being dead, unmovable cap hit.

Also, agreed they could most likely sign Kreider and one of ADA or Strome. I’m not a Ranger fan but I wouldn’t even think twice about signing kreider at 28 and potentially lose one of ADA or Strome. I would keep those two and move on from Kreider unless he was willing to take a pretty significant home town discount which I don’t see happening imo.

I am aware. But, as he has only failed to hit 20 goals once (blood clot season), I thought you could float me the 2 goals and call it 20-30.
Like I said, you will probably be proven right by the 24th. But, in a perfect world I would like to see Gorts move on from Strome for a good return, move Georgiev and maybe Smith, if there is ANY way, and sign Kreider and ADA.
Still a long shot. But, there are a couple other expendable roster players that could help clear cap space. So long as it's not Fast!!!

I get that you hate the Rangers, but at least tell the truth and facts. Giardi cap hit is $3.6m this year and then drops to $1.1 for the next 3. Shatty jumps to $6m next year and then $1.4m for two years after.

If they buyout Smith cap hit of $4.3 after this year his cap hit becomes $2.78 and $780k the last year. Staal $5.7m cap hit if boughout drops to $3.5 next year and $1m in his last year.

Point is Rangers can sign kreider and ada. They will also try and move skeji this offseason. They have options.

First off none of my posts had anything to do with my like/dislike for the Rangers. Second I was pointing out signing Strome, ADA, and Kreider which would be incredibly difficult. You would more than likely not have that great of a chance signing him and ADA unless they both get signed for below their perceived market value. I pointed out the buyouts in an earlier post as far as Smith and Staal are concerned. Your cap hit next year is what is important for signing any of the above mentioned players.
If you sign Kreider one of Strome or ADA will be gone. That was my point. Depending on how much kreider gets they may both be gone. That’s it.
Chances are they’ll trade him which is the right thing to do imo.

What do you think Strome and ADA are going to get next year? I'm asking because I think people are expecting them to get more than they really will. They're both RFAs (with arb rights admittedly) that have 1 maybe 1.5 good seasons under their belt. I'm not saying they won't get raises but it's not like they have the hammer here. My guess is DeAngelo goes 3 years 12 million. That gives him a raise and brings him to UFA status, where he can really cash in, and the Rangers have the opportunity to see what they have in guys like Nils Lundqvist

That’s actually a good question. I would think Strome is looking for at least five million per. Not sure what ADA would be looking for? Maybe a bridge banking on himself maybe not he’s having quite a season. I can see him getting north of five million even with a “bridge deal”.

Eklund: Teams say Rangers are Shifting Focus to Signing Kreider(e3) Buzz@9am
- Eklund

As a long time fan, I personally would like to keep Kreider and move Strome and Georgiev instead. I'd also be willing to trade Buchnevich since we have plenty of talented forward in the waiting. Now if Kreider would take less say $6.5/ 5yr He'd be 33yrs old at the end and could probably get another 3-5 yr contract. The man is a freak of nature and his conditioning is off the charts. He could be a 40yr old player and still be able to out skate most.
