It obviously wasn't the deciding factor last night, and with how every facet of the Flyers game was off, it didn't make any difference in the outcome at all...

... but does anyone else think this season, as seen last night, the league's officiating is grossly inconsistent?

It doesn't seem like it's coming from a place of bias, just that linesmen are regularly missing calls on one end and then penalizing an identical play down the other end.

Does it give you any pause or concern that they flat out didn't show up for a game against an opponent they should beat while in a playoff race?
- MJL

One game doesnt give me any pause or concern just like one game wouldn't make me excited or happy about how they are playing..

Lay another egg like that Saturday and I would answer that question differently.

My point is that's not about one game. It's how and why they lost one game that is the issue. It's concerning on a number of levels.

You see it your way, I'll see it mine.
Teams lay an egg sometimes for any 1 of a million reasons.

My focus is on this next game and like I said if they suck in that then I'll get worried again.

Did you see a team that made an effort last night? I'm as positive as anyone about the team but anyone who isn't concerned about that performance last night has blinders on.

Or possibly said person is human, has experienced a horribly crappy day themselves, wishes to brush it off and under the rug so long as it dies there and doesn’t come back to bite him.

Happens to every team over the course of 82-games, no matter how good they are, how many leaders are on the team, how good the coaches are, etc.

I disagree to an extent. Of course no team will have their A game every and even the best of teams will have bad games. That wasn't what last night was. Last night was a team that didn't show up ready to play from the opening puck drop. Young players such as Myers who certainly aren't established as a regular NHL player not ready to play. Making it worse, none of the teams veterans or leaders stepped up to lead on the ice and set an example that it wasn't okay. They were just as bad. To the point where one of the worst teams in the league had several ( more than two) grade A scoring chances against the Flyers while they were on the PP! Last night was far more than just an off night or a bad game. It was a level of play that is unacceptable. It was so much more than just an off night in a trap game. It was a disturbing level of ineptitude.

The Detroit game was an off night in a trap game but they still found a way to win.

Nothing I'm about to say is either negative or positive just honest facts as I saw them and think about them.

I literally watched arguably one of the worst games I have seen the Flyers play in years last night. Short of maybe Laughton, Hayes and Pitlick to varying degrees I dont know that another player showed up.

None of that changes the fact that it was one game with their next game , Sat, being even more important then it normally was. The best teams, of which the Flyers are obviously not, lose to teams they should beat. Sometimes by a small margin and some times they get destroyed.

One game just isnt a pattern to me, like I have said, they no show Sat then I am going to be very worried.

They overlooked a weaker opponent and got female dog slapped badly. It's not any more egregious than that, IMO.

OK, I don’t really have time to read back and I’m driving. It looks like Morgan frost is back, so what the hell happened with ghost earlier today?

That is not all encompassing. There are levels to that. They were at the bottom of the meter in terms of that. It was disturbing. I'm not one to overreact to one game.

I havent seen one person say last night wasn't an abject failure of the worst kind.

Some want to see some deeper meaning to that one game while others dont. I just don't think it is any more complex then that.

This is the second time I’ve read an excuse like this since 10pm last night. They just simply overlooked the devils. It’s just a cliché excuse.

I've been posting here a long time and on many occasions I looked at bad loss and chalked it up as just one of those games that happens over the course of an 82 game season. I think last night was far worse than one of those games. It had a way different feel to it. There's not having your skating legs or being tired as a team or having some puck luck go against you. Then there is lackadaisical play and not giving a poop.

We should definitely continue to debate it like it matters, though. Cripes.

I mean they had 46 shots so it's not like they werent doing anything out there

Obviously its frustrating and they should absolutely win those games but every good team has random games when they lose to an inferior opponent. If this game is followed by another bad showing or 2, then I'll start to be more worried

New Jersey had 19 SOG. I guess they were doing less than the Flyers?

They scored 5 goals on those 19 shots. How many goals did the Flyers score with all the shots they took? Says it all.

Giroux moved back to wing. Logically Frost would be called up to play C.
- PLindbergh31

I know nothing.
And he should have been recalled prior to yesterday's game. I said it makes zero sense playing Andreoff.

Roster move: We have recalled forward @_morganfrost_10
from the @LVPhantoms
(AHL). Forward Andy Andreoff has been loaned to Lehigh Valley.
