I think this will turn out better for the Leafs than many expect. Clifford will add exactly the type of toughness this leafs team needs, and will be in desperate need of in the playoffs. I'm really going to miss the guy. A fan favorite for all Kings fans.
Campbell is actually really good but played on a not so great team the past two years. He was once the 11th pick in the 1st round and you see the talent there. I think he will pass Hutchinson. - KingsFan67
Thanks for the assessment. You and the previous Kings fan on here seem to have given a pretty fair opinion. Hopefully Campbell flourishes in Toronto. He can't be any worse than Hutchinson has been, that's for sure.
Hopefully Clifford stays healthy and adds a bit of toughness to the team. We can surely use more of that.
Moore is a decent young player, but we already have lots of small, speedy wingers. He will get a chance to show what he can do in LA, and I'm sure you can always use more draft picks. Moore is also from Cali, so he'll probably be happy to play there.

It was the right move. If they waited too long, prices could have skyrocketed if the Leafs situation became dire. I was under the impression that Ryan Miller or Craig Anderson would have been an ideal match for Toronto, but they went for a cheap contract. The big risk comes with Campbell's inexperience. He is relatively inexperienced and the big Toronto market could present a problem as they need him to step into some important games almost immediately. |

Forward Kyle Clifford was a second-round pick by the Kings in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and has played his entire career with LA. The Ayr, Ontario native has appeared in 660 NHL games posting 129 points (60-69=129). He was a member of both the 2012 and 2014 Stanley Cup Championship teams, highlighted by his assist on the Stanley Cup clinching goal in Game 5 against the New York Rangers.
Goaltender Jack Campbell was acquired from Dallas by the Kings during the 2016 NHL Draft. Since his acquisition, the Port Huron, Mich. native has appeared in 57 NHL games, posting a 20-24-5 record, .918 save percentage, 2.51 goals-against average and two shutouts.
He also appeared in 80 games with Ontario (AHL) during that time with a record of 43-26-15, .912 save percentage, 2.67 goals-against average and five shutouts.

LOL it’s gonna take a lot more than a backup goalie and injury prone 4th liner to fix the problems in Toronto. One of the 3 stooges (Matthews, Marner or Tavares) needs to go. - woopstash

Now, Nahmy, it’s a well know fact the Cliffords ability to fight dates back to the 1800’s as they were bred as the first American prize fighters. |

Couldn’t be happier to see Tavares miss out on the playoffs. 2/7th of the contract will be over already with no success. Toronto is going nowhere with that D and goalie.
You’re a fcuking idiot.
Habs are garbage, Bergevin is a laughing stock of a GM. All the Habtards are getting excited about Ilya (frank)ing Kovalchuk. Price is looking washed up and getting paid hard for a long time.
High end prospects like Kotkaniemi? Didn’t he just get demoted? Poehling? Whatever.
The only solid prospect you have is Suzuki. - Kinger34

I don’t understand why Isles fans have such hate. They were doing nothing good to build a team around him. Blame the Isles, not Tavares. |

It’s a mutually beneficial deal. LA gets assets towards a rebuild and TOR gets a goalie.
I honestly don’t think Campbell is much different than Hutchinson, but hey, time will tell. Clifford is a serviceable 4th liner.
I just don’t think this is deal that moves the needle much for either team, but LA has better chance of a long-term win on this deal if they luck out with any of those picks. - Rinosaur
If you dont think this is a large upgrade then you havent actually watched Hutchinson play, hes not an NHL goaltender. |

One of the dozens of die hard Islander fans on the planet is chirping. Isles are a good hardworking team. 18 months later and you are still not over the fact Tavares left.
I think it is rather hypocritical of these same fans, who are also Yankee fans, don't see a problem with the Yankees buying up other teams free agent players. Read the NY papers. So and so grew up a Yankee fan and now he is playing for his dream club. It stinks when it goes the other way, doesn't it? |

We don't know what it's like to come up on the azz end of trades with our current GM
Both teams will be vying for the draft lottery anyways except one team was labeled a Cup Contender and the other was considered a bubble team that's in a transition year with influx of high end prospects coming and would even be ahead of you had it not been for all the long term injuries - Komisaurus Rex

Isn’t Babcock still available ? What a disappointing team they have up in Toronto. Looks like Mike wasn’t the biggest issue for the Leafs.
Reminds me of the mid-90’s Wings. All of the talent but too soft for the playoffs. For this years team, too soft to make the playoffs. - Manthamania
It's so sad that people actually think this way. What a trash comment |

Me thinks Clifford was probably forced on TOR as it would free up a roster spot for a kid. He's got hands of cement and a chin of tapioca pudding. He's just a poor man's Dustin Brown. He was being way over used this year. But Campbell has resurrected his career in LA so hopefully he keeps it going for the Leafs. |

His numbers wont improve though. Not until Leafs improve defensively but in any case Cambell should be an improvement. Shoot from anywhere method shouldnt work anymore against the leafs |
