It sucks. You always want your team to make the playoffs. But lottery picks are needed for any successful rebuild. The Caps and Pens are still reaping rewards from their lottery picks from 15 years ago. It'll be at least 3 more years before I see my team in the playoffs again. That's fine. I fully acknowledge Red Wings fans were spoiled for a quarter of a century. Everything evens out.
