If they don't trade Tatar at the TDL, I hope it's at the draft or next summer...They have enough wingers as it is. They need help on D. - BashCH
definitely, and for Tatar if they can get a young dman that already has "proven" talent and not just a gamble, then go for it |

But it wont be a top 10 pick so theyd be able to grab a D in the 20-30 range |

It's a great way to build...if you draft well in the mid to late 1st and hit later picks along with being competitive...not being competitive and missing on picks consistently breeds contempt for management - Takemedrunkimhome
oh I agree, it's a very tough plan to deliver, low odds of hitting homeruns with your drafts. |

For fun, who are the current regulars at forward that are not the problem in your opinion. |

Well they already have Romanov and Fleury, and a few other prospects in the pipes, no? And they have a poop load of picks for the upcoming draft... - Pat1993
Yeah our pipeline is pretty thin when you can only come up with 2 names. We have depth on the wings and between the pipes but that's it. The lack of depth puts Petry in the untradable zone; could you imagine a right side of Weber-Fleury-Kulak/Folin? I mean, it would be a (frank)ing disaster. The other thing is, after Drysdale, the D prospects aren't that impressive. It's a forward year so yeah, would be worth a couple of calls to try to grab some in trades *cough* Max Domi *cough*. |

there's no point in having Primeau up here to play once every 2 weeks. they need him to develop into a goalie who can give them 30-35 starts/year very soon. and at least they're finding out that Lindgren is unequivocally not the answer as a second goalie. - DoubleDown
and if Lindgren put 2-3 good starts, might be trade bait |

2-3 good starts won't overweight 2-3 years of very poor play i think... |

I still don't think Fleury is ready to eat top 4 minutes; but hey, if you can get a good young RHD for a good old RHD, sign me in! Did Ray Shero found a new GM seat??? |

Not one that's ready to jump right in but why are you so worried about who's gonna take Petry's minutes? You afraid they might finish 29th instead of 26th? |

But you can't trade everyone either, you need a good mix of vet and youngster
Oddly enough its Petry I would trade, I think goal scoring is hard to find, I would keep Tatar
Fully open to trade Lekh, Byron Thompson...
So ya not important I know, so the big move is trading Petry for a very good young D ( since we are not winning in the next 2 years )
Then maybe in June group picks and a winger for either a better pick or another D

Suzuki, Gallagher, Danault, Armia, Tatar isn't the problem but his age and contract situation make him an ideal candidate for a trade. |

Tampa is a great team. Great players. Better than
Ours. Even then, it's amazing to point out that 5 of their top 6 players average well over 18 minutes a game.
Of our top 6 scoring forwards, only 3 have more than 17minutes. Danault(19), Domi(17) Armia(17). (Did not include Kovelchuk)
This coach fears playing talent because he fears and loathes mistakes.
Maybe we don't have the talent, but if you "roll" four lines even when losing in the 3rd, there might lie the issue.
Tampa is just one example. Boston, Pens, washington. They roll 3 lines.
Even Tortorella plays his top 6 on average 17.30
Julien might not play Cousins and Weal 17 minutes, but 13-14 is too much.
Lehkonen at 16 is too much.
At least Kovelchuk has 19:30.
Gallagher, Kovelchuk, Tatar, Domi, Drouin, now Suzuki should all be getting 18+.

If they don't trade Tatar, they at least need to trade another top 9 winger. Can't play guys like Byron on the 4th line once everyone is healthy...
