Who are you trading to acquire D prospects? Probably Tatar and Petry, no? If not them then who?
- obie

Well they already have Romanov and Fleury, and a few other prospects in the pipes, no? And they have a poop load of picks for the upcoming draft...

well like anything it depends on the return. but i can't see the return being great. a mid 20s draft. you know how that ends with this team. and a b-level prospect who might turn out to be an adequate third liner.

also, no i don't think Bergevin would trade him now. only way he would deal him is if the team is out of the race next trade deadline. and if the team is out of the race by next February and he's still the GM, then to be honest, nothing really matters.

What NY gets for Kreider will tell you what they could have got for Tatar!

I have to admit, your trade proposal to Columbus was a bit over the top.

Is Gallagher the same player as Tatar??
- obie

Of course not, but I actually think a player like Tatar has a chance to still be affective in his mid 30s.
Will Gallagher be able to keep grinding until his mid 30s.

I'd rather keep tatar than get another late 1st round pick or 2nd that can turn out to be nothing.

If you absolutely want to trade Tatar, trade him this summer for a good D. Same type of trade they did to get him in the first place.

You start high but it's not that far off... a 1st + 2 mid level prospects for a signed top 6 winger and a couple low picks??

Dude, it's not necessarily what we want, but you know they're going to keep Tatar, Petry, Danault and re-sign them. THey want to be competitive every year because this is Montreal. Fans think the team should suck in order to get better but all you hear is "3 years in a row, no playoffs. 4 out of 5, no playoffs"... It's so (frank)in annoying, people can't pick a side.

It's not the no playoffs in a vacuum...it's the no clear plan to develop a contender...just keep throwing poop at the wall and hoping it sticks philosophy that bothers many. In this league it's best to either be great or be awful, anything in the middle is likely a short and long term problem

You're keeping the same team only paying more for it by re-signing everyone, this team is bottom 10 in the NHL, changes are needed and not just letting Weise and Weal go and giving everyone a raise

that's the problem with the plan, it takes YEARS to show results. Draft a kids at 18, most won't be effective NHlers until they are 22/23 if not later. What you see as a team now is what you will get for the next 2/3 years. first waive of kids showed up last year at the pro level, another waive this summer, still a few years away before some are solid NHlers.

Valérie Plante says Montreal will ban all plastic bags this year

that's too bad, I was hoping some Habs fans would use them to cover their head at games

If they don't trade Tatar at the TDL, I hope it's at the draft or next summer...They have enough wingers as it is. They need help on D.

It's a great way to build...if you draft well in the mid to late 1st and hit later picks along with being competitive...not being competitive and missing on picks consistently breeds contempt for management
